I was inspired to create something that could hold my necklaces in a pretty and chic way and that would be easily transportable when I moved from my apartment (less drilling in the walls). After finding these two great ideas on Whip Up and SFgirlbybay, I made my own. It was so simple to make, and I'm very happy with the way it turned out. Now all I have to add is some ribbon to staple gun to the back, so I can hang it on a nail on the wall. See less

Decide on a fabric for your headboard. Mary's suggestion is to use a twin bed sheet that matches or coordinates with your existing sheets. Avoid using strong geometric patterns, stripes and fabric with words on it as it's very hard to get the details to line up nicely. Cut into 4 pieces. 1. To calculate how much plywood you will need, measure the width of your bed. This is the length of the longest side of your plywood piece. The height can be whatever you want. 2. Cut 4 pieces of plywood with identical dimensions. 3. Using an electric carving knife cut an upholstery foam rectangle for each piece of plywood. 4. Cover each piece of plywood and foam with an piece of quilting batting and fabric large enough to wrap around to the back. 5. Two metal salad bowls, one 10-inches and another 18-inches in diameter, hanging independently of one another, are utilized to this end. First, wrap a strong length of wire around a selected tree branch. From this, hang a 11/2-inch hook to which have been attached four 6-inch lengths of wire. Drill four holes into the bottom of the smaller bowl and secure a wire through each hole to a single large washer. These wires will hold the 10-inch bowl in place. Attach a large hook to another 6-inch piece of wire. Pass this wire up through a hole in the bottom of the larger bowl and attach it to the large washer. A small piece of pipe may be used between the two bowls for wire stabilization. Hang your feeder from the hook sticking out from the bottom of the 18-inch bowl. See less
