This is one of my favorites from a batch of photos my Mom left here recently. Simon and my Dad walking on the beach & clam digging as the fog rolled in. My new banner photo was taken on the same day, as was this one: photo by pati mcdougall I am really enjoying these far away shots - they tell an entirely different story. Way to go Mom & Dad - thanks for always supplying me with such beautiful photos from today and yesterday. Edited: Mom & Dad shoot with a Canon Digital Rebel XT (same camera as I am using). I believe that she is shooting on automatic. If she lets me know differently I will pass along the information. See less

aka the new studio calico kit. i loved this one. it was full of loveliness. so check it out! (i took this as an opportunity to finally decorate the cover of my inspiration notebook. which is starting to fall apart because it's too thick). (the other girls especially rocked the kit. especially jessica sprague. i want to be her when i grow up). not much to share...caught in a pile of stuff to do...went to eat dumplings and saw the simpsons with the boys...i left my camera home for once. the simpsons was hilarious. i laughed a lot. tomorrow is my cousin's bridal shower and my little cousin's birthday party is on sunday, so i should be using the camera a bit this weekend :) have a good one :) See less

Hello and welcome to a new month! I always Love beginnings :) Around here the beginning of July holds the promise of many great outdoor adventures together as a family, it means the start of two months of summer vacation. The kids are out of school, and the air is filled with the freshness that comes after lots of rain. Summer plans are well underway, and as my littlest one, Bella, says "mama, I smell sun!" she is right, it is that warm humid summer air that makes me breathe a little bit deeper every time I go outside. mmmmm! July also bring the start of my first playground column, I hope you will come out and play with me here as we explore an important topic this month "sharing the Big stories" - The ones we often tend to “put off” scrapbooking. On the way home from my fishing trip the other day, I took a slight detour off of Highway 395 when I saw a sign that read "Mining District, 1 Mile". So I took a right and headed towards my latest photo field trip... Randsburg, California. Like Bodie, Randsburg was a mining town, but the difference is, people still live there. Only 77 according to the 2000 census, but were are a few shops open and people milling about as I walked around the downtown area. I was also talking to my mom yesterday, about how much I hated going antique shopping with her as a child, but now, I really appreciate old things, that have stood the test of time. I especially like old signage, and the weathered texture of things that have been around longer than I have been alive. There is just something so interesting about it to me lately.
