Während die Nutzung klassischer Medien durch den Verbraucher – und damit der Werbeerfolg – nur näherungsweise über Umfragen oder Stichproben festgestellt werden kann, lässt sich die Wirkung eines E-Mailings auf den Cent genau ermitteln. So können Sie u.a. feststellen, wie viele Empfänger eine bestimmte E-Mail geöffnet haben, wie viele von ihnen auf welchen Link geklickt haben, und sogar, wie viel Umsatz auf Ihrer Website daraus generiert werden konnte (falls ein Online-Shop angeschlossen ist). Es gibt viele gute Gründe für eine Messung aller relevanten Größen. I added this nifty Firefox extension that gives a blog's Alexa ranking and Google PageRank when you visit, and I thought it would be fun to do a Top 20 ranking of the marketing blogs, a la the AP Top 25. The rankings are according to Alexa, and basically if I think your blog either focuses mainly on marketing, or marketing is at least half the content, then I added you(and the content couldn't be all news-related, like Marketing Vox). Certain judgment calls had to be made, like including Creating Passionate Users and What's Next, and not including Micro Persuasion and AdRants. Per Frappr-Map konnten diese eine Karten der teilnehmenden Blogger erstellen, via Google Earth nach den möglichen Zielkoordinaten fahnden und auf der Seite der zentralen Registrierungsstelle für Domains eifrig nach allen möglichen Annagramen zu Hustle the sluff (etwa: "die Lawine ins Rollen bringen") suchen. So kamen die Blogger schnell auf die Spur der Berliner Agentur, die hinter der Aktion steht. Und damit verlor ein großer Teil von ihnen auch schon wieder das Interesse. Und da viele der angeschriebenen Blogger schon zu Anfang den Brief samt Schlüssel direkt dem Papierkorb übergeben hatten, schrumpfte die Zahl der Mitspieler zusehends. Late last week Warren Kremer Paino Advertising sued Maine blogger Lance Dutson for copyright infringement, defamation and trade libel and injurious falsehood. They charged he caused damage to their client, the Maine Office of Tourism, because he critiqued their marketing strategy. I can't comment on the merits of this case. There are two sides to every story, so I can't be sure who's right or wrong here without seeing the evidence and hearing from both parties. However, what I can say is that suing bloggers should be an absolute questionable last resort tactic to resolving such an issue. It's a lose-lose for everyone because of the PR fallout. I was interviewed earlier this week by Advertising Age on this subject and I offered the following game plan to companies that might have bloggers dinging their brands: * The first step is to contact the blogger and discuss the issue in a non-threatening way. Bereits bei der Planung einer neuen Internet-Präsenz sollte deren Bekanntmachung strategisch, zeitlich und finanziell berücksichtigt werden. In der Praxis ist leider oft das Gegenteil der Fall: Die Wichtigkeit des Online-Marketings oder der hierfür real notwendige Aufwand wird häufig unterschätzt. Viele Unternehmen neigen zu der Annahme, dass sich der Erfolg im Netz von selbst einstellen wird, sobald die Website erst einmal online ist. Das ist möglich. Aber es ist die Ausnahme. Oft folgt der ersten Euphorie die große Ernüchterung. Der neue Internetauftritt wird nicht gestürmt wie ein Kaufhaus zum Sommerschlussverkauf, auch schnellen die Umsatzzahlen nicht in die Höhe.
