The Mint Green Birdie Barrettes were designed & handcrafted by me using delightfully detailed 1950's cellulose bird cabochons firmly adhered to 1" long-catch barrettes. The Birdies measure 26mm X 29mm (just over an inch in length & width). About the Barrettes: I use 1" long-catch barrettes; a 36mm clasp with teeth keeps your hair in place. How much hair can these cuties hold securely? I have thick tresses & I find these barrettes work best for pulling back smaller sections of hair. They’re great for growing out bangs, holding up those forever straggling bits of hair that won’t stay put in your ponytail, or simply as a bit of hair-do decor. I recommend using a 2 or 3 side-by-side if you want to hold back a larger amount of hair. If your hair is on the thinner side, you can probably get away with a lot more hair holdage. That said: I really love these barrettes, I hadn't seen this style in ages, and although they're modern, they have a vintage appeal to them. Please refer to my profile... See less
