Up next in the gallery is Joe Penrod, an Olympia artist who's "tape" painting will certainly be something new for us. Using ordinary blue painters tape to copy cast shadows from everyday icons of the urban landscape - stop signs, trash bins, door handles. As the sun arcs in the sky and the shadow continues to crawl across the surface, Penrod photographs the moment in almost surreal simplicity. The result are images of a single object casting dual shadows, images of two true moments in time, vivid blue contrasting the dull grey concrete and shadow. Although visually and conceptually very simple, this is truly something you have to see to understand. Coincidentally, the show opens on Friday, February 2nd, Groundhog's day. See less

We have had a billboard gallery - Galeria Rusz for 7 years( http://www.galeriarusz.art.pl ). We show a new , large poster every month. A lot of Polish artists have participated in our project so far." "We live and work in the same place - in our flat. Our apartament isn't huge - only 47 square meters - so our workspace is not big enough ( and because of this our stuff is everywhere , this is horrible !) There is a large, old table near the windows and here is our desk. The table is divided into two parts : computer part and painting part. We have a little problem because in the middle of the table is our cat's favorite place. And sometimes her fur is dirty with paints. Most of our illos is hand-made, sometimes it is a mixture of hand drawing... See less

STUDIO Gallery is a collaboration of Rab Terry and Jennifer Farris. Rab's been producing and selling a variety of home furnishings that fall between art, craft, and home acccessories. We wanted to provide a venue to show his work, as well as the work of other local artists, including those who may defy easy categorization. We show the work of artists and artisans working in a variety of media: from Rab's mirrors with metal leaf and Venetian plaster finishes to urban scenes by Brandon Smith, the modern folk art painting of Bill Dunlap and Brian Behnke, and traditional woodblock prints by Ayu Tomikawa. We also have jewelry from a number of local artists, including Brook Jasmine, Kristiana and Kathy Loewenstern. And many of our artists do custom work and accept commissions.
