Outside largest dimensions: 14 long, 8 wide, and 3.25 tall. Inside cooking area: 10 long, 7.5 wide, 2.5 deep. Holds about 1 quart. Since the middle of the 19th century, Pomaire, Chile has been producing distinctive earthenware that is both functional and decorative. The artisans have preserved the tradition of working with clay using the same techniques that have been handed down from generation to generation. Each piece they create is dried naturally, then smoothed and burnished with an agate stone before being fired. No glaze or varnish is used. Ovens work around the clock packed full of clay items. Each piece takes about 8 hours at high temperatures to dry to an iron-hard finish. As such, it has its own unique imperfections and markings which highlight the handcrafting and individuality and in no way affect performance.
