My name is Jenny. I am an artist/designer from The New Jersey shore...about 45 mins from N.Y.C. (home to some of the most fabulous old fashioned bakeries on earth!!) Together with my boyfriend/best friend/partner in crime (Aaron) I have been designing and painting furniture and home accessories for over 12 years! Our designs have graced the pages of some of our favorite magazines such as Country Living, Country Home, Woman's Day decorating ideas, Design New Jersey, and were featured on NBC's The Today Show with Matt Lauer. What a week! Thank you to those of you that know where we live for checking in. We are fortunate, and all is well here. We live in the Trabuco Canyon area which is by the Santiago Fire. (That was set by an arsonist) We, unlike so many Southern Californians, were only on "alert" and never had to evacuate. There are no new or magic words I can say for all of those who have been devastated by the fires. I'm so very sorry. My prayers are with them. I have lived in Southern California for over 30 years, and never had an experience like this. Although we were far enough to avoid evacuation, we have been choking on smoke for 4 days. All the public and private schools were closed both yesterday and today, and all sports this weekend due to poor air quality. Yesterday, people were walking around with masks on. Today, however, is a new day. We have been blessed with blue skies, cooler weather, and less stench of fire in the air. I hope that the rest of Southern California is experiencing the... See less

We found these bad-a** papers at Whimsy Press - one among many favorite vendors from the National Stationery Show back in May -- and we just received our order from them. Though these are touted at the stationery show as gift wrap, they are patterned paper quality - they use high end quality papers for printing and the paper is double-sided to boot, AND we had them custom cut to size for you, so we are going to be tackling a knock your socks off project with these -- probably in September ... we hope to combine them with some upcoming goodies from CHA. I just love this hip, chic and metropolitan color palette - chocolate, cream, celadon green, robin's egg blue and gold. And check out the amazing patterns - did you see the paper lanterns! Meg has a tradition she calls "Flashback Friday" where she revisits artwork she did in the past. I like that. It gives you a perspective, a roadmap of how you got to where you are. So despite it not being Friday lets look back at the very first book I illustrated: The Day the Lifting Bridge Stuck written by Robert Yagelski and illustrated by Jennifer Beck Harris (yes that's me). Looks harmless enough, doesn't it? Well, it wasn't quite a walk in the park, since it was my first and you know what they say about seasoning the pan and so forth. Complicating matters was the fact that Ro was offered a position in London at the same time, so I packed up my Dr. Martin's Dyes along with the kids and a house full of furniture and off we went. We moved into the top three floors of a house in Hampstead, and I took over a spare bedroom on the fourth floor for my studio. It had a huge window overlooking Hampstead Heath. In the last two weeks I have been the happy recipient, as I mentioned in the post previous, of many, many surprises and gifts. All of them...each and every wonderful little thing was exactly the thing that I love. How did you know? There are a few gifts to meself thrown in to the mix as well. Highlights: My sister Jennifer found all of this dollhouse furniture for just $1 each! Site-unseen, I told her to get every last bit of it.
