I've been collecting glass paperweights for over ten years now. I have several hundred weights in my collection. I started out buying every weight I could find, but later chose to only purchase weights that were higher quality. I've sold most of my cheaper weights off, but still sell a few from time to time. I buy most of my weights on Ebay. My favorite weight is an antique New England Scramble weight. It was given to me by a friend and fellow collector. Most of my weights are antique American weights, Scottish weights, some French weights, and some artist's weights. I also have some antique Chinese weights and quite a few Murano Italy weights. I'm very fond of sulphides, millifiori, and lampwork weights. My favorites are my millifiori weights, particularly the scrambled ones. However, I do love my sulphides. I don't have many lampworks.
Paperweight collecting is only part of who I am. As a child growing up in Kansas, I experienced the thrill of antiques & collectibles first hand. My Grandparents and Parents were dealers of antiques. They focused on pottery & glass. I guess it sort of rubbed off on me. I have been selling on Ebay for nearly 8 years now. I offer mostly pottery & glass, but dabble in other areas as well.
My parents have been collectors of cookie jars for as long as I can remember. They have thousands of them. They started selling off their collection a couple years ago on Ebay. They sell 40 or so a week. My Grandparents are also collectors. They have a huge collection of Shawnee Pottery. Some of their items are even pictured in the Shawnee Pottery book by Jim and Bev Mangus. Grandpa & Grandma have recently decided to start selling off their Shawnee Pottery. My parents are helping them to sell their items on Ebay.
Ebay is a wonderful place for collectors. It offers a place to not only add to your collection, but also a place to eventually sell your collection at the best possible prices. It's been great for me over the years.
There's so much more I can say about myself, but I'm sure this is getting very long. I'll add more at a later date. Thanks for reading about me.
