I have the Canon Rebel XTi and I absolutely love it! Although I always use it in manual mode or other "creative" modes, the automatic ones are also remarkable. You can't go wrong!

I just purchased my first DSLR camera and decided to buy the Canon Rebel XTi. It was an amazing choice! It's perfect for a new DSLR user and now, within four months, I shoot entirely on Manual mode. It's amazing! I love my camera and I would highly recommend it to anybody.

i have this camera and love it!the other is great too though...

I prefer Nikon over Canon for personal reasons, although, Canon seems to be more consumer friendly and if you are getting the kit with the extra lens for the same price as the Nikon, go with the Canon....lens are expensive. Best of luck
