My Secret is filled with postcards of (sometimes) artfully designed or enhanced confessions/secrets that people have sent Warren over the years. Some are silly, some are heartfelt, and others are just heart wrenching...unfortunately, there were a lot in there that didn't move me at all. This second book is significantly shorter than the first book and I didn't actually feel it made as big an impact as the first one. It felt, I guess, rushed...that's the best way I can describe it. I felt like the author was under contract to produce a second book and didn't have the amount or quality of cards he had to choose from in the first book. At first the basic premise of the book didn't sound too intriguing. It sounded like a book full of trash. Essentially, that is what Found is, but trash that tells stories. Love letters, photos, shopping lists, homework (one kid handed in a report on a certain part of the male anatomy) etc. Some finds are funny. Some tragic. Some heartwarming. Think of the finds as short stories, sometimes conisisting of only a few words. Or better yet, windows into the lives of others. This is one of those books that is fun to just pick up and flip through making it a perfect "coffee table" book. I read select postcard secrets out loud to a group of friends. Some of the secrets were hilariously funny. Others were very disturbing in that they revealed, long-held secrets of various abuses by and toward others, and the resulting expressions of anger, regret, guilt and sadness appeared all too often throughout the book. The boldness of people reaching out through this medium made me read their secrets with some measure of trepidation. No doubt, many readers will recognize themselves, their desires and longings, in the postcard writings. This visually-stimulating book should be a wake up call to everyone, that emotional mental health issues are inadequately addressed in our culture. The book is one step towards affirming that it's a positive and healing thing to get one's hidden issues "out there" and hopefully, examined. I don't get what all the fuss is over the layout. Maybe a larger size or format would have looked better, but then the book would've been more cumbersome to... See less
