'Konk' is the second album from Brighton-based indie-popsters The Kooks. Produced at Ray Davies famous studio of the same name, the album is a sprightly-yet-assured follow-up to the platinum-selling 'Inside In/Inside Out'. Includes the single 'Always Where I Need To Be'. This limited version includes seven additional brand new compositions. The Kooks formed in 2004 while all four members were attending the Brighton Institute for Modern Music, the rock school set up by Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden. Paying homage to their influences, the group displayed an accessible (and bankable) mix of Brit Pop, Kinks-like hooks, and Libertines-style punk swagger. In 2006, the band's highly anticipated debut album, INSIDE IN/INSIDE OUT, rocketed into the top five of the U.K. album charts. See less

Feb 2007 'Favourite Worst Nightmare', a breakneck journey through screwball punk and guitar-fuelled dance floor heroics is the Arctic Monkeys' eagerly anticipated second album, which finds the band exploring darker and deeper territory with their trademarked gnarled poetics and jaunty rhythms, once again enlisting the help of producer James Ford. 'Brianstorm' is the stomping opener and first single from 'Favourite Worst Nightmare'. And it's very, very fast, it's loud and its bad tempered guitar rifts and drums give the song a feel of emergency. It's a brilliant racket but it's also one of the strongest songs the Arctic's have ever written. Alex's razorsharp wit is on tantalising form here; Brian is the flash, insufferable anti-hero of this Morricone-gone-drill'n' bass opening shot. Turner's lyric is a vignette, the portrait of a modern day villain, one of those scummy men who come in all shapes and sizes. See less

Including the most guitar solos Jack White has ever recorded to tape, and incorporating horns and bagpipes for the first time, 'Icky Thump' was shockingly the longest the band has ever spent working on a record- three weeks. 'Icky Thump' finds the duo of Jack and Meg White ever-changing, yet still remaining in their "little red box". The album is a sonically thick, modern sounding record which reveals its roots in American folk music at every turn. As the opening notes of the title track kick off the album, the listener knows he/she is in for an untypical-as-typical White Stripes ride.
