As a child, I spent my summers by the water in Narragansett, Rhode Island. While there were a few State beaches with boiling hot beach sand, most of the Rhode Island coastline is rocks. The sea has a mystique and an unfathomable allure, but the rocks also held a special fascination - they were the immovable objects standing their ground against an irresistable force. They ranged in size from very large to very small, and they had textures and colors that changed in the ever changing light. When wet, the rocks would sparkle like diamonds in the sun, and in their midst they held secrets from the sea. This 12" x 16" painting is a memorial to those endless summer days and the time spent on the rocks in Narragansett.
