*82-510-868-0910 Owning and driving a Mini-S is loads of fun. But, owning and driving a 2004 Mini S / MC40 with the John Cooper Works tuner package is just plain OUTRAGEOUS! This is a rare Monte Carlo Special Edition WITH the John Cooper Works tuning package. Oh, sure, since only 1,000 MC40's were produced, they're ALL destined to become classics. But add to this that a limited few MC40's included the optional JCW tuner package and these cars simply become the sharpest, fastest, rarest, and MOST desireable MC40's produced. You'll be hard-pressed to find a rocket sled with this power-to-weight ratio, balance of safety, handling, performance and economy. Driving fun, throaty sound and unbeatable road holding of a Mini fitted with a 'Works' kit reflects the passion of three generations of Cooper expertise. The Monte Carlo Special Edition was a $7,000 option above the upgraded “S” performance package, and the dealer-installed JCW tuner package was another $6,000 on top! So, what IS the Mini Cooper S MC40? It's a Salute to History. The Mini's most famous win was at the Monte Carlo Rally, in 1964. One of the progenitors of today's World Rally Championship, the Monte Carlo Rally was - and is, as it continues today - run over regular European roads in the depths of winter. Slippery conditions were and are the norm, with plenty of snow and ice, especially as Hopkirk and co-driver/navigator Henry Liddon started from Minsk, then in the Soviet Union. The Mini's traction, Hopkirk's driving, and Liddon's navigation beat all competitors, even those with considerably more power and factory money behind them. The win was not a fluke; Minis went on to win the next three Monte Carlo Rallys in a row. 2004 Mini Cooper S MC40 celebrates that victory. Hopkirk's winning Mini was red, with a white roof. And so all 1000 MC40 Minis are chili red, with a white roof. A copy of the original car's English registration, 33 EJB, is on the hood where is was on the original, and commemorative decals in the shape of the old Rallye Monte Carlo identification plates are found behind the registration on the hood - again, as the original - and on the rear flanks. The vintage rally theme continues with two extra driving lights mounted on the front bumper and magnetic, removable, reproductions of Hopkirk's number, 37, on the doors. Inside, the MC40 features unique red-and-black leather sports seats, a real carbon fiber dash overlay, and a plaque with each car's series number and Paddy Hopkirk's signature. Mechanically, the MC40 is a Cooper S with special seventeen-inch alloy wheels. Even with the number plates removed and stashed safely away, the car attracts plenty of attention. A Mini is different, and the MC40 is even more so. So anyone seeking anonymity is advised to look elsewhere. The MC40 package - includes: * Chili red body/white roof * Mini Cooper S sport package * 17-inch anthracite cross-spoke wheels with all-season run-flat tires * Dynamic Stability Control * Driving lights * 3-spoke leather sport steering wheel * Front and rear fog lights * Xenon headlamps with power washers * Chrome side mirrors and exterior details * Commemorative ``Rallye Monte Carlo'' decals * GB badge * Replica ``33EJB'' number plate decal * Magnetic #37 door numbers * Carbon fiber dashboard * Matte chrome shift knob with MC40 pattern * Auxiliary gauges * On-board computer * Special red and black leather rallye seats * Individually-numbered commemorative plaque with Paddy Hopkirk's signature What IS the John Cooper Works Kit (JCW)? It's a Mini S on STEROIDS! Developed by the legendary John Cooper Works Company for a global market, this unique package is sold exclusively through MINI dealers and is covered under MINI's comprehensive new car warranty. The package includes a reconfigured cylinder head, uprated supercharger along with special engine electronics and a performance exhaust. This enhancement takes the regular 163 hp MINI Cooper S to over 205 hp. The complete package comes with an MSRP of $4,500 plus dealer installation. Performance is at the heart of the MINI Cooper S and the John Cooper Works Package takes this philosophy one step further. The cornerstone of the package is an enhanced Eaton supercharger with specially coated vanes that generate increased flow pressure. The unit comes with a new pulley design that allows the unit to spin at a higher RPM, generating an increase in power. A high performance head is also a key ingredient. The modified head has improved port flow and, crucially has been especially designed for the increased compression and heat produced by the supercharger. The package also includes a reprogrammed Electronic Control Unit (ECU), which manages all engine control functions including airflow, combustion, fueling and spark advance. The enhanced ECU has been recalibrated to optimize power output and drivability, resulting in a lively throttle response and increased acceleration in the mid-range torque band. Also included in the package is a stainless steel sport exhaust system. The system is a parallel-flow, low backpressure system with superb interior and exterior noise quality. The system adds a throatier, more powerful exhaust note has distinctive looking twin chrome exhaust tips. Since the 1940s, the John Cooper Works company has produced celebrated racing cars, notably the front-engine Cooper Bristol driven by Fangio and rear engine Coopers for Formula 1, driven by Jack Brabham, Bruce McLaren and Stirling Moss. Under John Cooper's direction, the Cooper Car Company won consecutive Formula 1 Constructors' World Championships in 1959 and 1960. The Cooper name is forever entwined with MINI, originating with the 1961 MINI Cooper, which was developed by John Cooper. John recognized MINI's inherent motorsport potential and his team produced cars that took numerous race titles, and the MINI Cooper S became the stuff of legend with 3 Monte Carlo Rally wins between 1964 and 1967, driven by greats such as Paddy Hopkirk and Rauno Aaltonen.
