The Bentley's super-luxurious Arnage cruiser gets a major powertrain update for the next model year. The limmo's 6.7-liter V8 engine now produces more power and is working in conjunction with new six-speed automatic. The twin-turbocharged V8, Leftlane News is reporting, is now producing a maximum of 500 hp and a mind-numbing 738 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of peak torque. That's respectively 11 and 14 per cent improvement over the outgoing model. Both Bentley Arnage R and RL also receive their portion of steroids, increasing available power from 400 to 450 hp and rising the peak torque to respectable 645 lb-ft (875 Nm). Not bad for a big and heavy limousine. There is also an interesting enhancement to the vehicles driving abilities: for the first time, Bentley's sports suspension and the gearbox can be programmed separately, so that the driver may find his/her favorite combination of presets. Bentley also touts its new ESP system, which now not only helps keeping the car stable but does that especially gently, not strangling the engines power output, when it's most needed.
