Reviewed By: SCD on 9/21/2009 Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week This user purchased this item from Newegg Pros: Beautiful monitor! I wondered what I would get when purchasing this, as I've never had an Acer before, and I only use IPS or S-IPS panel "pro-grade" monitors at work, which I love. I have to say, I'm impressed! This monitor is bright and clear, with good colors, and little color washout as you move around. It is much better than I expected for the price vs. size (resolution) ratio. But then, it's been a while since I bought a consumer grade monitor, and they have improved quite a bit in recent years. I heartily recommend this monitor, especially if you are keen on the maximum resolution possible within the smallest space possible. (I know I am!) Cons: As far as cons, there's not much I can say against this monitor at this time. I just hope it lasts a long time; I worry about longevity with any consumer-grade monitor, especially one that seems to be as good as a deal as this was. This isn't really a con, but a good thing to know: the stand included with the monitor can swivel (right + left "turn" adjustment,) and has height and tilt adjustments, but does not have a rotate option to go from landscape to portrait mode. I consider this perfectly fine for this monitor for two reasons: 1.) Not many people would take advantage of such a tall screen (in portrait mode,) so it makes sense to reduce cost & complexity by not including this option 2.) Even if it did have the rotate option, it would be difficult to use due to the monitor's width (in landscape) - it would be very tall, indeed, and you would likely need to have a taller stand, and have the stand at max height before rotating to utilize a rotate option. So, NOT a con at Other Thoughts: I like it! I hope it lasts, and that I don't need to determine the potential value of the warranty. 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful. Did you? If you bought a Hanns-G...take a look at this monitor! Reviewed By: Fraggoth on 9/18/2009 Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week This user purchased this item from Newegg Pros: I am limited to 1000 characters, so forgive me for being brief: 1 HDMI, DVI, VGA in one monitor: YES 2 Stand provides adjustment in height/swivel/tilt, very few do. THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT! I never realized how much so. I feel like Goldilocks: adjustment was just right for viewing. 3 Outa da box to fully functioning: 5 mins flat. I was slower than normal, didn't want to screw up 4 Well built/sturdy, even though it is an ACER (no offense). I was impressed. 5 Size: just right: Not a 28" monster AND not a laptop. I only have so much desk space available. 6 Resolution is good: 2048 X 1152 I like my screens with width, height is here is more than enough. 7 TFT LCD 8 No dead pixs, lines, funkiness, ghosting: that is always my biggest fear! 9 BF2 looks gorgeous, runs well at full resolution (had to reload BF2 for full resolution but this is common) 10 On Screen menus work and make sense 11 Full set of cables. This is Good! IF YOU ARE LOOKING AT MONITOR, CONSIDER THIS ONE! Cons: Fear of the unknown...will it burn up/out in one year or at random one month from now (see other reviews for monitors), if/when it craps out, does the warranty mean anything, dead pixels/lines/etc appear and do not disappear...you know the drill! Time will tell. Other Thoughts: I have several Hanns G's so buying this ACER was a struggle for me. I have been very pleased with the HG's and was just ' ' < - that close to buying the new 28" monster, but they lacked several key features listed above in Pro's. If HG's had them, it would have been no contest and I would be writing my review for the 28" monster right now! I have played some dvd's on screenand the slightly larger than 1080i resolution is nice because you can have the player interface on screen around the movie and not have to do the "go to fullscreen" nonsense. Speakers, ACER, why do you put them in, why does any one do it even if someone used it as a TV screen. Come on, give me a break. I have a 1960 AM radio
