Leaders of nomadic tribes used to elaborately act out scenes from their own religion, and these primitive leaders of their cult can be regarded as the first actors. Theater truly developed and advanced during the Greek civilization and there too theater arose from religious rituals like the Dionysian festivals. It is advisable to introduce your child to acting early on in his childhood, for it then gives him/her the chance to like it sufficiently which increases his/her chance of being a success at acting later on in life. Actors dominate the television screens, radio, theater stages and even billboards and the glitz and glamor surrounding them, might make it look like a very desirable profession, but one must realize that it's an art that's mighty difficult to master. Although natural talent and a fierce determination are essential for actors, they can also avail the various acting schools and courses available to hone their skills better, in their pursuit of one of the most demanding yet rewarding professions. A good, proficient actor can easily convey the emotions that are required for his/her character, on stage or in movies etc. A skillful actor can become anything or anyone he wants to be, through his acting. But to emulate a character the actor needs to believe he is that character, and through great concentration and energy he has to be inspirational. Apart from their body, actors must always use their other tool very well - their voice. If we are to define the process of acting it can be done so by saying that when a person emulates someone else either on screen or on stage, he or she is then acting. There are no rules as to what kind of roles actors can play, for they can be someone who's living or can even emulate a dead person, the real challenge for the actor lies in how he takes the role or the character forward. An actor's job is no different from most other services. Actors too have to undergo interviews, in the form of auditions, where their work is scrutinized carefully before they are selected for any role. Multi talented people who are good at dancing, singing, mimicry and mime are always at an advantage. But the difficulty with most actors are that they are always waiting to be discovered by others. The best way to approach auditions is to give it your best shot, without worrying about the results and by being practical and taking rejections positively. If one has the determination and positive energy to ride over the rejections, then the call backs are never too far. Agents are absolutely vital for actors to survive in their business. Agents are the people who find roles for the actors and in return get 10-15 % of what the actor earns for that work. Amidst their busy schedule, actors must listen to their agent’s expert advice.
