My review should be tempered by the fact that I have only owned three pairs of cycling shoes. I had two reasons for buying these shoes: 1) To find cycling shoes that could take clipless cleats AND that also could function as a street shoe and 2) to find a cycling shoe that wasn't emblazoned with huge logos. These shoes even passed my girlfriend test, who said of them, "They don't even show up on the dork meter." My girlfriend hates my retro cycling knickers and my other clipless shoes. I try to sneak out (or in) unnoticed when wearing them. However, since we were going on a trip where we would be cycling a lot together I needed shoes that would escape her cruel wit. Let me be clear that my girlfriend does support my cycling passion, she just doesn't get the clothes. I digress. These shoes are terrific in other ways too. They fit very snugly. The one-pull lace-up system is terrific. Lace-up shoes can fit one's feet more snugly than velcro straps, but laces can interfere with the cranks or worse loosen and come undone. But these have a lock that you pull the laces through (and I pull them snug) and they don't let the laces go. Then the little locking device and excess lace can neatly tuck into a pocket in the tongue. Despite the fact that these shoes are black on black they don't get excessively hot. They breathe well, I suppose. Overall they are comfortable, but I have only used them on short, easy rides of 1.5 hours or less. For long rides (especially group rides) I wear stiffer, lighter shoes. However, those shoes look really weird. These Cyclones will be my commuter shoes (I ride 1 hour each way to work, so clipless really helps out) and my shoe for days when I am going to be hopping off the bike a lot like when we are biking around a city and shopping or museum hopping.
