I have the notebook PRO and I love it so far!
Macs are a little tougher to use, some programs aren't compatible, but they are a lot less susceptible to viruses. also great for graphics: picutres, making movies, etc.

I had a Vaio, it wasn't very sturdy -- the HDs Sony chooses are crap. Apple's pricey, sure -- but perhaps worth it?
I have a 2-yr old vaio, but the MacBooks look better and faster.

You will definitely enjoy your Mac Note book. However, if you feel that you want to be able to get better deals on software and making it compatible to run as virtual windows it can get a little more costly. If, you dont want any hassle I would go for the sony vaio.

I have heard opinions from about three different people that have the Vaio, that they would never buy it again. I've played with the macbook, myself and it's made me want to switch from my dell precision workstation.

I have a MacPro Book - just make sure you get their extended warranty. There are several problems with the latest system and mine is going in for an overhaul, thank goodness for the warranty!

Having used both Mac and PC quite a bit since the early 90s, this is easy: get the MacBook. Way more reliable and fun, much less hassle than Windows. And if you really have to, you can run Windows on the MacBook, too.
