Lambada Any trip to St Maarten would not be complete without a daytrip to the gorgeous and unspoiled island of sun and sand - "Anguilla", and her unparalleled sister - "Prickly Pear Cay". Lambada's 10 year history of party boat fun, family gatherings and outstanding crew, have made her a constant in the line up of #1 excursions. Lambada provides the means to enjoy what both islands have to offer - food, drink, snorkelling and incredible white sandy beaches. This is the trip often asked for by boat name and not destination. The heady combination of sailing, rum punches and fun loving crew members, ensure a day committed to memory and the scrapbooks. We enjoy a tremendous amount of return guests who name the boat and crew as their number one vacation trip. Anguilla - Wednesdays and Fridays Departing from Pelican Marina, Lambada sails up the west coast of St Maarten and from Plum Point across the channel and up the coast of Anguilla to Sandy Island. Sandy island is the first choice, an ideal setting and the snorkeling great. Non swimmers can also enjoy the beach and shallow clear waters. The protected marine reserve of Little Bay, surrounded by sheer cliffs with caves is another option. Turquoise waters and a small swim up beach provide a mornings entertainment. At around 12.30 pm Lambada moves over to Road Bay for lunch at Roy's new Bayside Grill. Choice of BBQ chicken, fish or ribs buffet for hungry sailors and then free time to enjoy beach combing, swimming or the sun. Road Bay Beach is long and has various little beach side bars and guest houses. Like all of the beaches on Anguilla , the sand is white and the waters a breathtaking turquoise blue. Prickly Pear - Tuesdays and Thursdays This little Cay is pure paradise, lying a short distance off the coast of Anguilla. Completely deserted excepting for the two little restaurants that provide lunch to visitors, nobody lives on Prickly Pear and restaurant staff travel over each day to be of service. This destination is all about relaxation. Palm trees bask in the sun, sugar birds dart through the restaurant and besides the three reefs for snorkeling, a walk around the island reveals great bird life. Simply gorgeous, Prickly Pear is a great choice for families with kids as the boat anchors for the day in one spot, with a nice long beach and shallow waters close in. Lunch is also a choice of BBQ chicken, fish or ribs and the day is spent languidly snorkeling, swimming or sunbathing. The call to leave comes all too soon. Lambada 63' sail cat, was the first new breed of day charter cats to arrive in St Maarten in 1996. The boats are very spacious areas with proper seating, a walk up bar and two toilets. There are two nets up front which guests prize as prime positions to sunbathe while sailing, and an angled ladder that is lowered in the front for effortless access and exit into the water when snorkeling. Sun block, towels, cover ups, hats and extra cash should be brought along. Cameras are fine to bring on board as all bags can be stowed away. The bar is well stocked with beers, rum punch, sodas and wine. Drinks, French baguette, Gouda cheese and apples are served while sailing. All snorkel gear is included on board, as well as belts which ensure safety, and lessons are available if required. Once at a destination, snorkellers and swimmers can swim to shore or the reefs, bags and non swimmers can ride in the dinghy to the beach with the crew. All guests should bring along bathing suits. These trips do not have island tours or shopping as part of their itinerary. { mosimage} Check in for all trips at Pelican Marina, Simpson Bay 8.15am, departure at 9am, return around 4.30pm.
