If you haven’t heard of the Asus Eee PC, you really must be living under a rock! This is the most revolutionary device that has taken the world by storm. It sold like hotcakes when it was first released and its demand is so high that the manufacturer themselves can’t keep up with all the orders. So, are you a little curious about why you should be getting one for yourself as well? Revolution In A Box When Asus first announced that they would be releasing a laptop with a 7-inch screen and computing capabilities that would rival that of a basic laptop, everybody was shocked, amazed, and some even shrugged it off in disbelief. Then all the pictures of the Asus Eee PC first came out and little later in 2007, Asus presented the Eee PC 700 to the world during a technology summit. This is when the world really started to pay attention. Here was a laptop that had a 7-inch screen, all the connectivity options one could dream of (like firewire ports, USB ports, and WIFI), and a solid-state hard disk with pre-loaded Linux OS; all wrapped up in a form factor that was literally as big as an actual notebook. In fact, the laptop is even smaller than some school notebooks. The world was soon prepped for this welcome change in Ultra-Mobile PC (UMPC) technology. Why Should I Buy One? If you are a tech addict, asking why you should buy an Asus Eee PC is like asking why you should breathe air. The Eee PC 700, for example, is nothing short of a miracle for the road warrior. One can surf the net over WIFI, use the webcam for video conferencing over the Internet, surf the Internet or check email, and even enjoy a game or two to pass the time away. Of course, you can do this with a laptop that you probably already own. But the neat thing about the Asus Eee is that it’s lightweight and can be packed in just about any carrying case or bag pocket that it fits into. It’s easy to pull out, much more convenient to use than a PDA because of its full computer capabilities, and most importantly it is highly customizable. The Eee is currently available in a 8.9-inch screen variation (Asus Eee PC 900) that has 12 gigs of space with Windows, or Linux with 20 gig of solid-state drive space. Is It Expensive? Here is the reason that will blow everyone’s mind. The Asus Eee PC is a fully functioning computing facility that is as large as the standard mouse pad and looks as sleek as the best of laptops. So, you would pretty much imagine that you would be spending top dollar for a device that’s advanced and revolutionary, right? Wrong. The Asus Eee is the most affordable laptop that you can get. The Eee PC 700 variation costs anywhere between $200 and $400 these days while the newer yet-to-be-released Eee PC 900 will cost about $450 to $500, justifying the improvements made on the hardware. That is still more than half the cost of many laptops on the market. Still need a reason for buying an Asus Eee PC? Don’t think, just go ahead and order it while you can!
