In that all important first conversation, slick is what the over confident guys think attracts women. By these definitions, slick will repel, it doesn’t sell. So how do you talk to a woman and try to sound super slick? Answer: you don’t. Let’s bottom line this, men, if you have to work at sounding “slick”, you aren’t. Trying to be more of what you aren’t is a disaster. Granted you won’t be easily forgotten. You’ll be the leading topic the next day when she laughs with her girlfriends about the “disgusting creature” who tried to pick her up last night at the restaurant. Get this straight, women don’t want slick, they want smooth. There’s a huge difference. Most guys don’t see the difference and maybe you don’t either. That’s ok, women know the difference. Even if you don’t see it, work with it anyway and you’ll quickly see the difference. A smooth guy is a confident guy. He doesn’t spot a woman then rush over to her. He glances, smiles, looks away and moves around the room. Let Mr. Slick move in, she’ll brush him off. Meanwhile, you get closer and be ready to join the conversation with her and her girlfriends. Just talk. No pick-up lines, this isn’t middle school and I doubt it worked well there either. If you are lucky enough to arrive on the heels of Mr. Slick’s rebuff, agree aloud that you “really resent that kind of guy who treats women with so little respect.” Then let her trash him while you smile and nod approvingly. You aren’t just Mr. Smooth, you are sensitive and respectful, more qualities that women adore. Even if you have zeroed in on one woman, don’t let her know it right away. Talk with the friends too. Her comfort level with you will increase faster if she feels like you are connecting with her friends. Your goal is to join their conversation so smoothly they barely realize that you are the outsider. In a matter of minutes, you can become an insider and that’s the prime position for building rapport with your target woman. After you are well wrapped into the group’s conversation, you can begin to focus more on her. Don’t get too exclusive, keep in touch with the group even while looking intently at her. Never ogle and keep your eyes on her eyes. This isn’t the time to guess bra size. That’s a slick move and can turn her away from you fast.
