Reviews point out that many sunscreens advertised for kids are no different than adult formulas, except for added fragrances, which may, in fact, irritate children's more-sensitive skin. As with adult formulas, kids' sunscreens should contain UVA protection, but in the form of titanium dioxide or zinc oxide, which is gentler on kids' skin than avobenzone. Blue Lizard Baby sunscreen comes in SPF 30, has a combination of titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, and is fragrance free. Adult formulas with zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide are also available.
