It is manufactured by Proform Company which is an Icon Health and Fitness, Inc. subsidiary. To people with a very limited budget that is under 1,000 dollars, Proform could be the best choice for them. However heavier individuals, competitive runners and frequent users of treadmill are taken out from the list. Affordability is the major strength offered by Proform treadmills, with price ranging between 500 to 1,000 dollars or even lower. Added strengths include iFit compatibility where the users can have internet downloads on new programs of treadmill workouts, hand weights, workout fans and CD players. Proform is providing the fitness market with the largest line up of treadmill products. The manufacturer has a long history in the construction of treadmills which develops lots of treadmill innovation distinguishing it from others including adjustable cushioning of decks, and scissors type arms found in the Proform's Crosswalk models providing upper body workouts for the user. It also offers unlimited warranties. Mostly, Proform treadmills has a warranty of 90 days on parts and 1 year on labor compared to companies selling expensive treadmill models with only shorter warranties. Durable treadmills warranties could be extended to 2 to 5 years; however it is an advantage if you purchased some Proform models having 12 to 15 years warranty. Be aware that budget treadmills are prone to mechanical problems on a high percentage compared to other brand names. Treadmills repair can be very expensive so make sure to spend extra money to avail of extended warranties on your budget treadmills. There are some calibration instructions on the Proform treadmills that are also added. Take for instance the incline and speed calibration, instructions are found under the cover of the motor hood or inside the belly pan where it is mounted. Make sure that the machine is unplugged before doing the calibration. If the console always reads zero, then maintenance and calibrating is needed. It is easy if it uses a battery because you only need to replace it, but if it does not have batteries, check the optic sensor or reed switch. Unplug it before removing the cover of the motor hood. Check if the wire is damaged or connected to the console. When doing the reed switch adjustments, make sure that it is directly pointing towards the magnet before moving the tip within the magnet at a 1/8". An optic sensor is calibrated by loosening the adjustment bolt which holds the switch from its bracket. Put the disk at the center if the switch slides. You have to check the rear roller's right hand side to know what type of adjustments you are going to do on the walking belt. Allen Wrench bolt requires two-adjustments bolt style and a hexagonal head requires one-adjustment bolt style. The same procedures are also followed when loosening or tightening the walking belt. If ever you cannot find any instructions on the machine, contact the customer service department where in they could give you the detailed procedures over the phone. There are varieties of Proform treadmill models to choose from which do not just cater on the lower end of exercise and fitness market.
