See more » The AC-1enclosure design cuts hardware noise in two ways: Firstly, the sound insulation properties of our thick steel and aluminium case substantially reduce transmitted noise from internal components. Secondly, the rigidity of these heavy guage materials combined with the use of secure bolt fastenings, make for a highly vibration-damped structure.This effectively eliminates rattles and buzzes 'in sympathy' with fans, drives and the music you're monitoring. For desktop users we've designed large removable feet, utilizing visco-elastic SorbothaneTM. This unique material is used to isolate scientific instruments and audiophile equipment from vibration. Its high storage modulus means that an extremely high proportion of input energy is disspiated rather than transmitted. (Any audiophile enthusiast will know that SorbothaneTM is extremely expensive but we include these feet as standard.) Anyone who has ever rested an acoustic instrument on a wooden table while playing, knows that vibrations are transmitted and amplified when solid objects make contact. To combat this we've incorporated purpose designed absorbent rubber gaskets to the rear of the 19" rack ears, to reduce metal-to-metal contact between the computer and the rack, and so reduce vibration transmitted from one to the other. The AC-1 rackmount case is considerably sturdier than any PC tower case. Its aluminium front panel offers up to three 5.25-inch drive bays and two 3.5-inch ones. The case comes with many handy extras as well, such as the modular front-panel options for transport controls or MIDI controllors (these modular front-panel upgrades may be purchased through www.carillonusa.com), as well as the front-panel stereo jack Patch socket, which is routed through to an identical rear-panel socket so you can have permanent front-panel access to your choice of audio I/O. As if this wasn't enough, each case comes complete with a Carillon LOW NOISE UltraMute 300W Power Supply. The power supply is typically a computer's noisiest single component so we started here. Our Carillon UltraMute PSU combines special low hum transformers with an all new fan, featuring substantially smoother fan-motor bearings and a reduced turbulence fan blade design. *Chassis shown with optional transport controls - not included in auction.
