I am sure I'm not alone in this, but the new year finds me in need of a full-life makeover... But before I get carried away with the never-ending list of improvements, I would like to share a tiny morsel of Progress: Tiny Beastie, ink and pencil on bristol board He is a petite 3.5" x5" and is in my shop. I drew this little guy recently when, in a panic, I realized that I hadn't made so much as a doodle in weeks, maybe months. Isn't that terrible? Gone are the days when I relied on my little sketchbook for emotional well-being. Maybe that's why life seems so crazy all the time! Which brings me back to Resolutions... I would like to share a few of the more specific, more likely to actually be accomplished vows (believe me, I have a ghastly amount of changes to make): 1- Draw a little bit every day. Even if it's a worthless scribble. Even if it's terrible. Just hold a writing implement in hand and touch it to paper at least once a day. 2- Blog at least twice a week. Even if it's just a quick little musing, with no photos or exciting news. I don't want to lose touch with all the amazingly creative people whose lives have so touched my own! 3- Make at least one new item for my Etsy shop each week, even if it's just a tiny drawing! (And dammit, break 100 sales already! Break 500 sales!) 4- Leave the house at least once a day. Whether for a walk around the block or a cup of coffee, have some sort of mini-adventure into the great unknown every day! (Because, seriously, each new day should be an adventure!) 5- And finally, squeeze my cat at least 100 times a day!!! This one is obvious. If you haven't made a similar resolution yet, do it right now! I am determined that, armed with my sketchbook, my trusty blog, and my beloved new IPod, I will be able to fulfill these five simple goals. And if I can do that, life will be good. Really good. Well, adventure beckons (and the day-job, too). I hope this will be a happy and productive adventure year for all! - - - p.s. I am currently in the market for a new printer, preferably one that will handle fine art papers, maybe even one that uses pigment inks. Anyone have any suggestions/advice?
