See more » When you set out to start a new day care type center, past the registration, licensing, zoning, training, inspections and legal pre-requisites, you also have to pay attention to, things like: The nature of the school, location, size, type and level of care, age group and how many children, staffing and resourcing, back-up care for illness/vacation, training staff, on-going development, upgrades to your property, safe-guarding and proofing your home, to make it welcoming, safe and appropriate for kids and running a day care or playgroup scenario. There are insurance implications, policies and coverage across and between categories that you will/may require, consider getting. Third party, life, property, health, employee etc. to protect your interests and investment optimally, leaving options open for emergency, crises or when recourse of action, legal responses are required. Contingency planning never hurt anyone. These many vary, even be pre-requisites in the community where you live and provide your services in. You are entrusted with the child or precious multiple children of a family, various families, parents, care-givers, to care as best you can for their needs, while they are at work. That is the task at hand, the order, the calling and what you are paid good money for. You can ensure that everyone gets reward and value for their investment, including you. It can be a highly satisfying career. You can start by finding out more in your local area, zoning, state(s), where you live and operate, by sending an email requesting information, visiting their websites and/or searching online for similar entrepreneurs and tap into their knowledge and expertise a little more. You can do so regarding requirements, license, science, training, art, development of your caring craft, treatment of families, kids and employees, employment practices, physical guidelines, restrictions, inspections, food, health, bathroom, curriculum, programs and activities, guidelines, rules and laws etc. You can optimize and write your own action plans and ideas into being and reality. Regardless of which municipal or county area you are in, there are always options for running a small home-based, community-based, religion-or cultural group based, center, or informal, Montessori-type preschool, with lots of activities and programs for developing children, hearts and young minds, for boys, girls, mixed groups alike. The key then becomes how to unearth, identify and even create opportunityfor yourself. A business card always goes a long way, as will brochures, website and spreading the word through others (networking, word of mouth). Contact your local insurance company, broker, professional to see what coverage you would need. Get, have and pitch a detailed, general and comprehensive action plan(including financials, funding, budgets, expenses etc.), for a company taking care of, supervising, teaching, looking after children as a third-party care-giver, other than the child’s parent, opening a home-based day-care for example. It may all take time, energy, planning, some effort, but will be well worth every penny and second you invest. For the most part (expect for the licensing), it is afree enterpriseof sorts, with low operating costs and fees, funds coming from the parents of those who utilize, require and need the service. Two things that will require your attention, beyond providing care and getting customers, will be making money, growing your business, being profitable, cutting waste and expenditure to earn a decent living from these activities in child care. You need to market and advertise, putting your hard-earned dollar where it will get you the maximum impact. You can just as easily advise and coach others on forms, ideas, even car and auto insurance, related products, resources and suppliers, tools and utilities, company, project and daily operations management,and more similar topics.
