To lanie40: Try here: http://www.dogfather.tv/services.php#contactform & here: http://www.dogfather.tv/services.php#redbar . Not sure if it will work or not as it sounds like Don gets a Lot of emails and such. Hope this helps!

We received Don's system yesterday and will begin using it today. My husband wants to use our regular leash on Lucy as he feels he can make a better correction with it than with the included lines. I've seen on reviews where someone has e-mailed a question to Don and received a response from him. Does anyone know how we can contact Don and/or his company directly to answer a question or if using our own leash is O.K.? I can't find a contact listed anywhere!

i will be ordering this system and dont worry I will come back on here and tell you if it helps or not. I have spent about $125 dollars on trying to train my dog at Petco. It was not good. There were problems with the scheduling and the training I did get was not intense enough in my opinion. Plus there was no money back guarentee(spelling sorry!) At least with this program I can get some of my money back if i dont like it. My rottie really did not learn anything he did not already know from my trying to train him at home, like sit, and down. But now I need him to stop jumping up on people and pulling on a leash. His playfullness can be easily interpreted as aggression simply because he is a rottie. However he is aggressive towards other dogs, and I need that stopped like yesterday. I am a real person with a real dog. I dont beat around the bush, if it gets results I will be the first to say so, if it doesnt, I will say that too. I do believe that there are positives and negatives to any training. I have tried treat training and I get temporary results. I dont want my dog to only behave for a treat. But so far I have not read one word from someone who has tried "The Perfect Dog" that says the system does not actually work. The only negative things I have read about this system are from those that dont believe in the method and feel the trainer is not legit, so they ASSUME it wont work, but it seems that they have not actually tried the system to be able to say that it wont work. The majority of those that have tried it say it works..so I dont care about the debate between training methods..I just want some results. And i am not afraid of a little discomfort for my dog, as long as it doesnt shock him or cause great pain, I will try it. Its better than the pain of having him hurt someone, or removed from my home and having him abused or destroyed due to bad behavior. We can stand a little discomfort to avoid huge pain in the future. So what I am saying is i am willing to give it a try. It cant be any worse than the piss poor training I got a Petco. If he learns a little more I will be happy. But you can believe I will tell you guys one way or the other what went down.

I know this is an old post and such, but I thought I'd chime in just in case anybody else stumbled upon this page. First of all I'd like to answer a few questions I seen... Person with 6 month old lab that was nipping and such while trying to do the down, you should have temporarily muzzled the dog. It simply humbles the dog and gets the point across who's in charge. Once the dog is doing the down, you'd take the muzzle off and give it a try with out it. If dog continues to nip, you'd re-apply the muzzle and continue in this fashion till the dog gets the point nipping = muzzle. Person with big dog that won't go down - Same thing, Muzzle if you feel dog will bite and up the collar. If the command collar isn't working, Temporarily use the prong collar to teach the dog, then you can go back to the command collar. This is all explained in the DVD's. This is an EXCELLENT Product and I'd recommend it to everyone! I have 6 dogs and can now walk all of them through town, around people, past other dogs with out having to hold the leash. We are working on getting the leash completely off and we are almost there. One of my dogs was severely dog aggressive on leash and can now walk past completely ignoring the other dog. Not only do these DVD's teach you the basics, but also Boundry training! Teach your dog not to go into a certain room in a house, not to run into the road, stay in an area that isn't fenced, and even has a portion of the DVD for training Boundry lines while camping! AWESOME DVD! Don Sullivan is amazing and you will have so much fun living with a dog that has so much more freedom! I've also trained with Clicker & Treats with great results, but not complete reliablility no matter what with out treats. That's even using the variable re-inforcement. Simply amazing and literally instant results. I again recommend it to everyone.

We're going to order this system for our adopted Feist. I've read review posts on many sites and consistently in the negative posts are: 1) they haven't actually used the product, 2) they don't understand that dogs are dogs, not people. I've had dogs since I was 10 years old and have trained 3 dogs from puppihood. I'm not a pro but one thing I know for sure - dogs are animals that live by pack rules - they don't like being alone and they feel most secure and happy when they know their place in their pack - whether it's leader or follower. My 11 yr. old Lhasa Apso has always been super well behaved - I trained him at 3 months old & he did a traditional dog class at 5 months old. Now we have Tucker (an 8 mo. old Feist we rescued from the SPCA) and the traditional training methods aren't working w. him - even w. treats. Feists were created in 1800's in the South to hunt Squirrels. So, if a squirrel, rabbit or chipmunk runs by - forget about a treat getting him to do what I want him to do. Believe me, I love my dogs and am firmly against animal abuse. However, I think people have humanized dogs and forgotten that they simply do not think the way we think. Being our dogs' pack leader is not cruel - they need one to feel secure. And if we're not their pack leader, they will become ours, whether we acknowledge that or not. Look at dogs in nature, in the wild - as much as we would love to think our dog(s) are the same as our son or daughter, they're not - they are an animal. It doesn't mean we should mistreat them or neglect them in any way. However, it does mean that we need to meet their needs in a different way. Dressing them up or talking sweetly to them meets our need - not theirs. They need consistent social interaction, instruction, security, health care, healthy amount of food and love in a language they understand (play time, walks, rubs, verbal encouragement, etc.).

We have a five month old female blue pit bull who had been a real delight. We started training her the normal treat way, and that worked well until a month ago. Since then, she has developed a mind of her own, and she chooses when to come to us or do whatever, or when it seem important, she chooses to chase some small creature rather than come for her treat. We ordered Sullivan's system and it arrived a few days ago. After watching about half the video, including the "pulling on leash" part, I decided we would try this, but first I wanted to try it on myself. So I sized the collar for myself, put it on, and gave the leash to my wife. She then tried to teach me the "Down" command, with several "corrections". She did not succeed in training me, but the collar did not hurt - it was not comfortable when she snapped the leash, but it was not painful. In fact, it seemed no more painful that when I would grab the arm of our eight year old child from running out into the street, and it certainly does not hurt as much as spanking a child would (we don't spank). So I wasn't worried about this hurting our dog.We then took the dog for the first walk, and made three or four "corrections" in the first minute or so. After that, only a few more until about the 10 minute point, when a new dog emerged. One that stopped pulling (although if a squirrel was close by, she still pulled at that), but otherwise, nothing. Another day or two and the pulling to chase a squirrel stopped as well (although we do still let her off leash to chase one once in a while, but she has never caught one - yet). We are now on to other commands, and we love the product. Now, the only treat she gets is when we come back into the house - kind of a welcome home treat - before I play with her on the floor.

since everyone seems to be asking someone to explain the training method, I will. You have a blue plastic/rubber pinch collar with leashes of different length 10ft, 6ft, 6in. You put the collar on the dog and the leash on the collar. Then you show the dog how to do the command you want them to do. Lets say a down command, you gently put the dog in the down position over and over while giving the hand signal and saying down. You do this until your sure the dog understand what down means, maybe as much as 10 times. Then you do it for real, give the command and give the dog 2 seconds to respond. If he doesn't you jerk on the leash toward the ground to get him to lay down. Then you walk him around and try it again. He gets corrected until he does the command when asked. When he does it right, you pet him up like crazy. Once he gets it right 3 times in a row that means he's got it and you stop doing it for that training session. That is pretty much it, nothing magic just correction until he does it right. Also you increase the force of the correction until he responds, so he knows your not messing around. Works really good. You do this some sort of thing for most things. But that is basically how it works.

I have used Sullivan's system for a few days with my dog, and it has worked for us. The "blue plastic" collar is indeed a modified prong collar. No real magic to it. I tried it on myself before I put it on my dog because I love my dog and I am not interested in punishment, fear, and pain as a way to "subdue" my dog. It is not my intention to break his spirit. I want a happy, well behaved dog, just as we all do. Otherwise there is no point in having a dog. The training itself is not magic either. It consists of learning how to issue the proper commands, body language, hand placement, voice tone and pitch. In other words, train yourself first. That's why Sullivan suggests watching the DVD more than once. For example, with the down command, the method is to give the command and the hand signal, and then use the collar and "freedom line" (which is just a piece of nylon line with a swivel shackle to clip to the collar) to gently place the dog in the proper position. If the dog responds positively, he gets praise. If not, he gets a small tug on the line and is placed back in the desired position. He gets just enough correction to get his attention. The goal is not to hurt the dog or to make him fearful. When the dog performs the command successfully, he gets praise. His tail wags and everyone is happy. No treats to rely on for bribery. My dog quickly learned that he will get plenty of praise and approval and acceptance for proper behavior, and a brief moment of unpleasantness if he does not. There's no yelling, beating, biting, tears or pain. He quickly learned he prefers the praise, and that was that. 20 minutes and he consistently responds to the down command, even from a distance. The DVD emphasizes plenty of play time and positive reinforcement via praise and acceptance. The empahsis is NOT on punishment, physical dominance, or fear. And that's all there is to it. First you train yourself on how to behave around the dog, and then you train the dog how to behave around you. Some might call that punishment training, and if so, so be it. Call it what you like. From the brief time I have been using this system to train my dog, I have found that he has very quickly learned that making the right decision leads to lots of praise, and he happily does what is expected of him. As sure as there are countless dog personalities out there, there are countless ways to train them. Some have merit, some don't. None are perfect, and nothing is guaranteed. Dogs are animals and are not prefectly understood (neither are people). Pick the training method that is right for you and your dog, and follow it. The only way to know what method is right for you and your dog is to try it. If you're uncomfortable with a given method, choose another. Your dog and your relationship with it should be considered an investment, so invest in it. A life of companionship and harmony with your dog will be worth the time and money you put into it.

I ordered this system and I have loved it, I got tons of positive results from using it, it uses a modified pinch collar, as I have never used a pinch collar I don't know what is modified about it. I have a maltese and a pug. From getting the system and watching the DVDs which could have been done A WHOLE LOT better, I came to understand that I have let the maltese become pack leader and in control. This caused alot of issues in the house. The system is a praise and discipline method that is strongly against hurting your dog. it states to use only as much pressure in the discipline to get the dogs attention. never did it put my dogs health and well being in danger, and it DOES not use fear as a part of the training. I feel it was a great investment for me and what I needed. It will probably not work for everyone, but for alot it will work. If you watch the DVDs a few times you get the general overall view of the training and if you put it to use the way it is intended you will get results. if you have any questions please feel free to contact me at asktrin@yahoo.com

How do people know that the postings are not 'real' since they are asking for real opinions? by the way way, treat rewards in training generally works very well if you establish the behaviour, and then do not offer a treat every time the dog displays it. On the other hand, my Bichon will ignore me sometimes if she thinks there will be no food reward involved. I am interested in this system after watching an infomercial, and would like to read more from people who used it -- both negatives as well as positives.

lousy product, lousy return policy. see google "the perfect dog" for more bad reviews

To Jaded41 they have updated their webpage and they now have prices. It looks like new leashes at $15.

I just got the system last week, and I am not too sure how I feel about it, I have a 5 almost 6 month old lab, and he is very hyper and a little agressive, he does ok when we are in the house, but as soon as I get him outside, he gets really jumpy and nippy towards me, we have done a training class with him when he was 10 weeks old, he learned basic commands like sit and down, but will only do them for a treat. Any other time he ignores me and walks away. Anyhoo, I got the system last Thursday and started using it Saturday night. I popped in the DVD and watched it, which is super long, he suggests watching it 2 times before actually attemping anything, the collar is a blue plastic collar with triangles on the side towards the neck, which does remind me of a prong/pinch whatever it's called collar. He goes through the commands one by one on the video with you, and shows you how to do it, and tells you how to correct your dog, my dog so far, has responded ok to it, but I am having major issues with lay down, he gets really agressive when I ask him that, he nips at me at my clothes, and I am at a point where I just want to give up with the system because I am scared that he is going to be an agressive dog if I continue with it. If this doesn't work I don't know where I am going to turn to, as I will have no options left, like I said I have done the training school thing, and he is so great when we are there, but when I get him home, he is aweful. Anyhoo have any other questions I will try to respond, but I just happened to come on here by fluke while I was searching for info on Don Sullivan.

My name is chad and I am a real dog owner and a chef at a country club in carroll iowa, and I have to dogs, Truman a 100 lb american bulldog/boxer mix and Samson an english bulldog. We have let Truman get his way for so long and we tried other training methods to some sucess. My wife and I ordered the perfect dog system and it is working well after only 4 days. I was able to break truman of pulling on his leash in a matter on 10 minutes, and now i walk him on the training lead with the collar provided and he is a new dog on his walks. Sam never pulls unless he is trying to keep up with the big boy, and I have yet to walk them together. I also have tought them them down command and that is super helpful, they respond well, but under distractions it's still a work in progress. As for the people who ask how the trainig actually works, heres an idea. You watch the segments on the dvd and go try it with your dog. The dvd shows you with a dog and with the trainer and then explains what to do. it is not as easy as they show on the dvd, but it does work. My big dog was used to running the house and could never be outside without trying to take off and now I can take him with me outside to do yard work and such, he is still on the training lead but he is a ton more calm. Hope this was helpful, and I will post more as i work more with the 2 dogs..

I just tried to order this and I need a second leash for my other dog. Well the ordering service that you call into or even the website, won't provide you pricing information on additional leashes until you provide them valid credit card information. They claimed that the way their data entry screens are setup, you can't get to the additional leash pricing until you finish the previous data entry page that requires the valid credit card number. So then I logically asked if anyone already knew the pricing for the additional leashes and nobody did. They said they deal with hundreds of products, this being just one of them. So although they have had people ask that before, they couldn't remember the pricing. I agree they have a lot of products to deal with but to not have this info accessible in any way without me providing my credit card number just seemed sketchy. Finally, the 4th person I talked to at the ordering service called one of the supervisors and got the additional leash cost from him. She told me it was $19.95. So I agreed to purchase at that cost and ended up providing valid credit card info. Then when the rep got to the screen where she would add the 2nd leash, the price was actually 3 installments of $12.40. Thats $38 plus $2.95 S&H. This is double what the supervisor told her to quote me. She told me there was no way to get the price changed and she apologized for the supervisor's mis-quote. I didn't end up ordering. The whole thing was so screwy. Can you remember any transaction ever that you had to supply your credit card info prior to knowing what the total cost would be?

i just received my training kit a few days ago. I have two small poms and within seconds of putting the command collar on and doing light tugs on it they quickly got the point. I am COMPLETELY amazed at how quickly it works. I too was concerned about hurting the dogs but I put the collar around my wrist and tugged at it and it doesn't hurt but it's comprable to what their mothers would do or the pack leader would do with their mouth on the back of the dogs neck. I tried treat training and without treats the training ended. If you have your dog out in public and you don't have a treat then your out of luck. I wanted my dog to be obedient based on our personal relationship and respect. Additionally, in the dog world how many pack leaders do you see "bribing" the dog to obey by using food? In none of them. It is viewed in the dog world as the person that gives up their food is the submissive one, that is the dogs perspective on us humans as well when we hand over our food to them. So often we try to force dogs into our world and forget that we need to relate to them on their level. People like food and snacks and treats for themselves but that is not how the dog world functions. This program is GREAT! Because my dogs are so small very minimal force on the command collar is needed to achieve results. It's really a gentle tugging and they respond immediately. In one day they were sitting and remained seated with no treats where as before if I didn't give them a reward then they didn't feel obligated to comply. Don Sullivan has had over 20 years of experience with animals compared to my 10 months. As a result I am more inclined to believe that he is better equipped than I am to determine a dogs training needs. Additionally, the dogs that he trains absolutely love him. They run towards him and are very affectionate, that's hardly the response an abuser would get. My dogs are even respecting me more. I'm getting the same amount of love with 10 times the respect. That's a WIN WIN! Also, for everyone that thinks that he is training based on punishment that is completely false. He gives the dogs verbal and physical praise whenever they complete a command correctly as to let the dog know that he isn't upset with them and that they are doing a great job. All rewards do not have to be in the form of food. My dogs love feeling like they are pleasing me so when I bend down and pet them with praise they respond the same as they would with a treat if not better. When they realize that they have exucted the command correctly they get extremely excited and proud. I LOVE THIS DVD!!!!!!

Is there any way to send an email directly to Mr. Sullivan's school. I would like to sign my two dogs (shih tzu) up for personal one on one training. How does an individual go about doing this? Your reply is graciously appreciated.

I have a 4 month old Golden Retriever and after 2 days of using Don's system, I am excited to work with my puppy more and more because of the success he is showing already. My family has had Golden's my whole life so before my husband brought this one home I was prepared with hundreds of dollars of treats for training, leashes, beds, stacks of books and magazines, etc. I LOVE MY DOG. So I understand the fear of hurting yours - but this system is based on a dog's natural pack instincts. It's like watching a dog play with the neighbor dog - when one gets too close - the other will snap and establish dominance and then they'll go on playing knowing the order of the pack. (And by the way, my cat only had to swipe once to establish himself above the dog.) And already I can take him for an hour walk with no problems, no pulling and I don't ever half to snap his leash - he already gets it. I used to drag him gagging around the block. So decide for yourself which way you want to live but I personally love this system.

Does anyone have an address/number for Don Sullivan in their material other than THANE products? Tired of dealing with them.

I actually used this dvd and collar....I am truly amazed. The collar is not like the traditional pinch collars on the market....it does not hurt the dog whatsoever!!! I followed the steps meticulously and had tremendous progress immediately. As with every product that is sold, there always complaints ..... no product is 100% satisfactory. I believe in this product with absolutely no equivocations. I love the fact that the dvd is very detailed oriented and breaks down each command and exercise individually. I hope that others will have the success that I have had and would love to answer any questions that someone may have.

Don is correct. Treat training DOES NOT work for many dogs. I spent hundreds of dollars on obedience training and my very smart Beagle learned that she gets a treat if I ask her to do a command... and if I do not have a treat, she looks at me like I am stupid and will not do what I ask. So I have ordered the system 2 weeks ago... still waiting for it to come... as soon as I give it a try I will try to give a very detailed account of what it's all about.

How about a real customer that actually describes the training. All these responses are fluff obviously plugging the product. Why can't we get a real response from a real customer that can actually describe this guy's philosophy? Perhaps because the guy is a hack and there are no real satisfied customers.

I have two dogs. One is my Jack Russell Taquito (5yrs) who is 16lbs of hell on four legs. An the other is a Lasapoo named Brutus(3yrs) who is very sweet and submissive. Taquito has always been a large problem, he rarely responds to being called, constantly licks, still not house broken, jumps up on the table for scraps, begs, jumps on people, is aggressive towards other animals, is aggressive towards toys and food, and sadly has bitten a few strangers fingers. I knew some training must be done so I enrolled him into the Petsmart’s treat training program. An all though after months of training his improvement was very minimal, an he still was not able to contain him self with company or when leaving the house. He was also still jumping up and stealing food. So I ordered the Don Sullivan’s training CD and an extra command collar for my other more docile dog. I watched the entire DVD and placed a command collar on both dogs. I wanted to start out very slow for a few reasons. 1) I knew Taquito would be very resistant, and I was expecting him to growl or nip because I knew he had a very strong dominant personality. 2) My Lasapoo Brutus had never had any sort of training and he was so meek I didn’t want to scare him. So I started with the three commands I’ve been working on for months (Sit, Down, Stay) and since they had never been crate trained I confined them to sitting on the bed with me for the remainder of the night. The result was amazing, after the second tug on the collar Taquito got the message and he was a whole different dog for the rest of the night. His constant licking had stopped, he laid on the bed with me for the remainder of the night letting me pet him, we played a bit with out him being overly aggressive with his toys. An by morning I reinforced the teaching again with one tug when Taquito didn’t respond. An he’s behaving like a champ. It was so much easier the I thought it was going to be. As for our meek Brutus I have to issue far less corrective tugs, however I make sure they are very gentle. Previously I was worried that training such a meek dog this way would make him very scared of any one, however I was pleased to find that wasn’t the case at all. He has actually be become more alert to what I’m doing, and actually runs off to the corners less. One night and my animals are leaning toward harmony. I recommend Don’s methods because they show you how to communicate with your dog they same way they would with each other. An as for the command collar I tried it on my arm previous to even putting it on the dogs, because I would never put any device on my dog that I though was inhumane. The collar doesn’t pinch, it slides gently, and the design is pressure based, in short it didn’t hurt my arm but it made me feel like some one was grabbing my arm with the tips of their fingers pressing into my skin. I’m very excited to continue the training and to start taking my dog’s more place. Because that’s what I wanted my dogs for. Not to be used as a pretty toy but for companionship.

I just ordered the kit and looking to try it. My dog is 2 1/2 now and is pretty well behaved, I used to bring her to an open leash dog park and she was attacked 2 different times and I decided not to bring her. Now she has a playful aggression with other dogs. She is dying to play but is overly anxious and now gets into confrontations. I need to stop that.

I too am interested in ordering this system for our dog. We got her from a shelter 7 weeks ago and she is not really aggressive but barks alot and this system says it will help with barking. I'm a little nervous about it because we don't really know the background on this dog and I sure don't want to feel like I'm abusing her if thats the environment she came from. She's a great dog-just a few little problem behaviors that we want to correct. I would love to know more.

I just came back from my first time of using this system/equipment. I am delighted. Even though I couldn't find information when I purchased this I decided to try because I was desperate. Walking my two adopted rescue dogs had become a nightmare. One is 30 lbs of muscle, a former street dog who thinks running and chasing cats and all other 4 legged animals is her mission in life. The other is 10 lbs of spunk, bred to be a watch dog and true to his breed. Walking them had become a dreaded event, with them pulling all the way and barking ferociously at every animal we passed, dogs, cats and skunks alike, almost pulling me down trying to chase them. I was ashamed and afraid to take them around other people walking their dogs. When I got the kit I was surprised at how small the box was. I don't think I would have paid for it on the shelf. Now I would buy it over and over. First I watched the DVD on getting started, skipped to Pulling the Leash and then, when I couldn't figure out how to size the collars watched Equipment. With directions, sizing the collars was easy. I didn't follow all the training directions, taking both dogs at once, one on each side of me. Within 3 feet of the door there was a change. Neither dog seemed distressed, just responsive. We walked for about 30 minutes with me following directions as much as I could with two dogs and moving down the street. Within 5 minutes they were well into adjusting their speed and direction to mine, no matter how fast or slow or how often I turned. They were not stressed, but very into what I wanted where usually they were competing to have their nose ahead of the other dog's. We happened up on a cat, maybe 6 feet away. Both dogs lunged. Their lunge and a quick snap on the leash by me gave them a pretty good correction and after 2 steps they were back at my side moving down the street. Before this I would have been dragging them away, with them barking and snarling. When we got home they were very good at keeping pace with me without pulling on the lead at all. I realized that there had been no barking (they were too busy tuning in to me to bother with distractions) and we were all in a very good mood. The collar is very well designed for effectiveness without damage. My dogs usually go through a walk coughing and gasping. Today they were very comfortable, not one gag or gasp. I'm eager to move on with the remainder of the training and a happier life with my dogs. I've read at least a dozen books on dog training. I used to raise German Shepherds and have won awards in Obedience Training, so I felt like I should know what to do with my dogs, but it wasn't working. Nothing has worked even half as well as this. I happily recommend it.

I just got the DVDs in the mail on Monday. My 5 month old puppy is doing well with the Down command. My boyfriend's 7 year old dog is not. It seems they have to learn this command first before I can move on with the system. The collar is very much like a choke collar and when I watched the DVD, I was not thrilled about it. But I tried it with the puppy and after a few slow pulls to the ground, he knew what to do. As for the 7 year old dog, I cannot get him to go down unless I yank on the leash real quick. A lot of the times he just stands there and doesn’t seem to care that he is being choked. I hate doing it to him and I am not going to try anymore. I just feel like I am hurting him and I can't stand it. He does not seem to be catching on. He is supposed to lie down eventually 3 times (without me guiding me or pulling him) or until I am done training for 45 minutes. I have only gone as long as 25 minutes. He seems to get more and more mad at me as the time goes by. I am afraid he might bite me in the face. I had no idea he was so dominant. I just want to be able to leave my dogs home, but not in their cages. I want to let my dogs off the leash and know they won't run away for days. I know this Down command is very important. But, I just don't feel like I can do it. Anyone else having an issue with the down command? I need some advice. As far as someone mentioning "tough love", I guess that is what you call it. But after the training my dogs still give kisses and play just the same, so maybe I should get out of my head that they are getting mad at me. I think my boyfriend might have better luck with the big dog. But he doubts the system completely and thinks I have wasted my money. I really want to prove him wrong! Oh yeah, if you buy the DVDs, buy some work gloves as the leash can really burn your hand.

I have been using Don Sullivan's Dog training system for one month and it is amazing. Just buy it and you'll see. He is right, treat training is NOT the answer.

A real opinion by someone that has used the system would be nice. Those who fault it because he doesn't use treats, haven't really ever 'trained' a dog. It would be a pretty one-sided relationship to be nothing more than a 'pez-despenser' for their dog. That isn't a trained dog, that is one who is just keeping the dog distracted and it's mouth too full to bite. What happens to the behavior when your treat pocket gets empty? Who trained whom in that duo.

It looks to me like he's a punishment trainer -- that blue plastic collar looks suspiciously like a pretty-colored pinch collar! Also, I've read reviews elsewhere that state that his program is very "tough love", which sounds to me like it relies on punishment rather than positive reinforcement for a teaching tool. Also something that gave me pause: although many people don't want to train with food treats, I have never heard anyone claim that using treats increases risk of aggression to people and other dogs, as Don did in the infomercial. That is just plain silly! It is much more likely that confronting an aggressive dog using force or punishment will illicit aggression. Veterinary behaviorists at Universities use food treats to rehabilitate aggressive dogs (a friend of mine took her fearful/aggressive German Shepherd to UC Davis and they use food treats -- in fact, my friend now refers to herself as a "pez-dispenser" LOL! Also... the UC Davis method is working wonders on her dog! Hope this helps!

I'm having the same problem. I can't seem to find anything that tells me about his training methods. From the little bit of information I've obtained, it seems he uses punishment, but I can't be certain. If you come up with any additional information, please pass it along. briteshiningstar@hotmail.com. Thank you.
