I have machine embroidered (took about 6 spools of madeira poly thread, 45,000 stitches and 4 hours to make). The design was embroidered on a tee shirt and then cut out and fused to cotton material. It is stuffed with new, hypoallergenic poly-fill. The back is a coordinating Asian inspired fabric in a muted red with black characters. The face of the pillow is dark grey and the colors in the dragon are olive, cranberry red, sunflower orange, bright yellow, dark green, and dark red.
