• One of the country’s most popular apples! • Produces fruit years earlier than other Gala trees • Low maintenance, grow organically Don’t wait 3 to 5 years to start picking your Gala apples – plant a better developed tree for earlier fruit and a lifetime of more apples! Gala apples are so popular because of their sweet taste, but more importantly their crisp, firm texture. They resist bruising, softening and other defects. You can even store them for up to 6 months. You will start picking your apples in late August or September and continue through the fall. Soon you should get 6 to 12 bushels from each tree, so you’ll have plenty to share. Gala Apple Trees are adaptable and easy to grow. Yours will quickly mature to an ideal height of up to 15 feet and have a full, oval shape - making it an attractive yard tree as well. You can even grow your Gala Apples organically. Grow your fruit without spraying chemicals. It’s critical that you purchase an apple tree that is already “branched”. This is where the nursery prunes its young trees back to promote more branches. More branches mean more fruit, earlier production, stronger limbs and a healthier tree. This method has already caused our apple trees to produce apples! Most nurseries sell tall, skinny stems with no branches – these are referred to as “whips”. They can take several years to fruit and will generally be less productive when mature. Our trees are pruned back and trained to develop a massive branching structure. This process means more work and an extra year for us, but the difference you experience is dramatic. Before your trees are shipped, we give them one final pruning at no additional cost to you. This final pruning allows your trees to remain "dwarfed," which means you have more apples at a safe, easy picking height! With proper care, you will be able to start picking apples after the first season, or as soon as the first year under optimal conditions. Your trees arrive in pots… NOT BARE-ROOT. Bare-root fruit trees are dug out of the ground, which tears off most of the fine roots that they will need to absorb nutrients. It can take your tree up to a year to start growing these hair-like roots back… delaying your fruit production even more. All fruit trees from Fast Growing Trees Nursery come in containers, with their fine roots intact. Just plant and watch them thrive. Gala Apple trees are normally planted in pairs so they can pollinate each other. Order early because Gala apple trees sell out quickly. Only limited quantities available.
