The shapes are made of sheet metal and have flat polished surfaces. pambadam ear rings are still worn in south india and are crafted by village goldsmiths using the traditional moulds and techniques, handed down over the centuries. The various parts of the ear rings are made by hammering gold sheets into dies, and the parts are eventually assembled and soldered together.
