F-14 Tomcat game for Gameboy Advance GBA DS SP Video Games > Games Platform: Nintendo Game Boy Advance / SP / Micro/DS Genre: Action, Adventure Rating: E - Everyone Description Ease into the cockpit of your Grumman F-14 for 16 grueling missions, enforcing a no-fly zone over the stretch of ocean separating Taiwan and China. Enemy aircraft, submarines, and battleships are out to gun you down, and some of them are frightfully well-armed. Luckily your F-14 is no slouch in the armament department either, with a large array of state-of-the-art missiles, 20mm cannons, and cluster bombs at its disposal. The Grumman can also track bogeys with its radar system, while you can track your flight path using the in-game terrain map. While superficially a flight sim, gunning down the enemy is the heart of F-14 Tomcat.
Special Features Awesome weaponry; intelligent enemies; more than a dozen levels; 32-bit graphics; four-player action via link cables
Warnings Mild Animated Violence
Details Players: 1-4 Players Controller: Gamepad,Joystick In-depth missions, has lasting appeal. Vulcan 20mm Cannon – Fires 6,000 rounds per minute. But if a player has a lead thumb on this thing, it will overheat and automatically disengage for a moment. The best way to handle this weapon is in short bursts while watching the heat gauge and the enemy Sidewinder Missiles – Short-range heat seeking missiles. They don't grow on trees so be careful how you use these effective deterrents to flying pests. Sparrow Missiles – Mid-range radar guided missiles. You basically have to stare the enemy in the eye (don't forget to wave!) before launching these. Phoenix Missiles – Long-range, radar guided missiles. Lock-on from a distance and fire. One of those extra perks of driving a luxury fighter. Tomahawk Missiles – The supreme of all missiles in this game. Launch this baby containing a 1,000 lb. conventional high explosive warhead and watch the fireworks begin. To help guide the missile, the fighter is equipped with a Special Navigational Computer. Another thing – they can only be fired at certain points due to the topography of special targets. Enemies have weapons too. Players must avoid being plucked by MiG 29s and targeted by Surface-To-Air Missiles. A list of Hostile Icons is as follows: Bogey Submarine SCUD Launcher T-72 Tank Enemy Structure Transport Airfield To successfully complete a mission, these key hostile objectives need to be destroyed: Enemy Destroyer Enemy Radar Plane Oil Platform SR-71 Aircraft Island Compound Tu-26 Back Bomber Oil Tankers
It's not always a hostile, wicked world in this game. A player has friends but they are few. Friendly Icons include: Carrier – Not only handy at landing times but also if you need to refuel during a mission. You can actually land, refuel and take off again. A-6 Tanker - Another refueling option, this time in mid-air. Way Point - Not exactly a friend, per se, but it looks like one after you’ve been flying in circles trying to find this thing and finally do. Find the Way Point and launch that Tomahawk at the target. E-3 Sentry AWACS - This is something I've yet to see in this game but I'm sure it's there. Video Games > Game Boy Advance > Simulation > Flight Video Games > Game Boy Advance > Action > Shooter Video Games > Game Boy Advance > Racing & Flying Product Description Based on the game Turn and Burn for the Super NES, F-14 Tomcat is an air-combat sim that puts players in the cockpit of an F-14 Tomcat. Your job is to patrol the not-so-friendly skies and to shoot down any pilot dumb enough encroach on your territory. You're armed with a 20 mm cannon and a few air-to-air missiles to take out enemy fighters and transport planes. The game offers cockpit and rear views, as well as support for up to three other players via the separately sold communication cable. With Iridion 3d, Fortress, and now F14 Tomcat, they should become a well established US company in no time. F14 should be a major hit. With as many as 4 players playing at the same time, it will be interesting to see Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator like games come to miniature gaming systems. There are several missions that you can take, ith obstacles such as takeoff, landing, and midair refueling involved. The game has a realstic feel, with the targeting HUD, digital position data display, and realstic control array.
