Pros: Good pictures as long as you hold still. In camera rechargable battery pack that is also sized for AA's 8 gigs of memory for 120 mins of recording. 2X digital zoom that decreases resolution 2X Feels fairly sturdy Smallish Lightish Simple controls Easy Software is OK Not cheap For a specific purpose it may be OK, but the lines are getting muddy. Still cameras now have HD capabilities and seem a better value. Cons: If you don't hold it still you get stuttering, pans look bad No external charging capability, but if it dies use AA's That's it 8 gigs! If you're going to Fargo ND or Cairo Egypt take that 5 lb laptop because so far my Atom CPU's don't handle HD well No SD slot Not really heavy enough to steady itself (but then who would want it?) A little too heavy to put in a shirt pocket Possibly a little too simple (good because there is no manual to speak of) Software is minimal, no manual. But, seems almost unfinished. Lot's of nice buttons until you want to download to the PC, I had to search for the download button, it was on the master screen, not in the clip selection screen. It's a small thing but you would think they'd smooth it out. It's like a rough edge on a finger nail, it's a bother. NO CLOSE UP OR MACRO MODE NO HDMI cable buy an adapter at radio shack for 10 No video out or cable. How many hotels have HDMI TV? No USB extender seems like it will break off in the port Too Other Thoughts: My wife went to the Cisco Partners conference and this was given away to the attendees. I've wanted a small camera for awhile and had discounted the earlier model in favor of the Kodak Zi6 (which was returned). The Zi6 had macro mode, you could get real close but not medium close. Both cameras suffered from stutter in pans or almost any movement. Too expensive for what you get Retail $199, no cabling, can't take it with you to look at on a hotel TV. Always tied to a computer, no SD slot. In comparison look at the new still cameras that have HD, I like canon. The SD780 IS (newegg $259, I don't own) let's you take stills with optical IS, use SD card, take HD movies, swap cards if one fills up, zoom optically in movies (may be locked once movie starts), has close up mode, optical view finder. It comes with a video cable (not HDMI, mini adapter for $10), a rechargeable LIon battery +charger+USB cable. Canon has always done well for me, I'm sure Nikon, and others have similar cameras. 11 out of 13 people found this review helpful. Did you?
