just took my Garden treasures gazebo down because my canopy was ripped in 100 pieces. I realized that the canopy's are not made to last more than 1 year, they dry out from sun exposure. I threw the whole thing out. Next year I am buying my gazebo from Home Depot. Two of my neighbors bought theirs there and have not had to replace anything and have had them up for at least 3 years now. I will NEVER buy anything from Lowe's again!

I also have the Garden Treasures10' x 10' Steel Gazebo model S-J-109. The original canopy only lasted me like a year. I recently bought the replacement canopy from Gardenwinds for only $99.99 plus shipping. Quality of fabric I would l say is thicker than the original one, so this should last more than one year. Gardenwinds also said their canopies are UV treated and is fire retardant. Here is the link to their website: www.gardenwinds.com

Follow-up on my earlier comment: I purchased 10 yards of green rip-stop nylon (63"wide), some green heavy duty thread, and using one of the panels from the large canopy and one from the smaller top as patterns cut out and sewed up a new canopy. I took the velcro strips off the old canopy and sewed them onto the new one. My sewing machine can make button holes, so I used that instead of gromits in between the velcro strips to keep rainwater from pooling and stretching/ripping the material. I used the old vent screen. The canopy fits perfectly and looks great. I was able to do it all in a weekend. You should be able to make one from any material as long as it is at least 58" wide. I actually bought 12 yards (all that was on the bolt) so I am thinking of making a matching tablecloth.

NEW! This site promises that the fabric for these replacement canopies has been upgraded. I have the 8x8 but they also offer the 10 x 10. Haven't ordered yet, but it looks somewhat hopeful. www.theoutdoorpatiostore.com. I'm looking to purchase my THIRD roof. Frame and netting is still good.

Does everyone take their gazebos down in the winter? I left my old one up for 5 straight years (but it was wood, had 8 "arms" under the canopy, was octogon shaped & had a CANVAS top) and just finally replaced it with the newer steel one. After having it for 2 weeks, we had an insane 8" snow on March 1 that completely crushed it! Lowes replaced that one, and I've had this one up since March. Last night's wind/rain ripped it to shreds! I was planning on leaving this up year round, but I'm starting to re-think that after reading your comments!

My canopy ripped when we took it down last fall, but I was able to repair the tear. Was very careful putting it up this spring as it felt fragile. Walked out on the deck last night to find two large holes torn in the canopy on opposite sides like a large animal had jumped off the house roof and landed on (and then through) the canopy. Now I'm thinking it was the flying squirrels as the fabric was even more deterioated by the sun this summer. The vent roof is also torn. The replacement canopy from Lowes #64338 looks different from my canopy as they now have an eave all the way around. My gazebo doesn't have the necessary ribs to hold the eaves in place. Has anyone ordered the replacement canopy from www.thelashop.com? It looks like it would fit, but I'm worried about the fabric (poly-vinyl) holding up any better than the original. Am Thinking of taking the original apart, making a pattern and sewing up a CANVAS version. Screw ordering shoddy merchandise from anyone.

I just got off the phone with NuMark and I was told that they canopy they sell now won't fit the gazebo I bought a year and a half ago. I was told to search the internet for one that will fit. It's a scam company and this is the second time Lowe's has basically ripped me off on the shoddy merchandise that they sell. I will never set foot in their store again!

We also bought this piece of crap from Lowe's. We purchased the 10x10 and only 3 months from putting up the top ripped where the velcro tabs are. Repaired this and now since putting back on for the summer we had rain last week and everywhere there is a tab it has torn so bad that it can't be repaired. If anyone knows where you can find a replacement top I would appreciate a post back. The frame is still in great shape.

I have one that I also got at Lowes and looks to be the same complete with the worthless roof, but I can't find anything that says "Garden Treasures" on it. The only tag I can find says himark industrial corp. Can anyone confirm it's the same thing?

After reading all of this I'm not sure I really want to know the answer to my question. I bought the gazebo two years ago and have never used it. I am giving it to my daugher to use around her pool and I can't find the hardware (screws) or instructions. Can anyone tell me how to contact Garden Treasures t order the hardware and instructions. Thanks Rfincher244

WOW! I am reading all this and I am so upset, because this happen to me. I purchased the 8x8 garden treasure and I had to purchase a canopy top and screen for the next summer. Bought it and before the fall set in good is was shredded again, now I am looking and I cannot find it to order it. I'm still looking. This is my 2nd canopy and screen!!! I am soo through with this canopy.

http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pdfImages/e6/e67bcd08-c68e-471a-88a0-ad96d88504ee.pdf I found the above link - installation instructions. They aren't exact, but it gave me an idea about how it all fits together. I put it all together with the help of my 6 year old, then got an adult to help me lift it all up to put the other two "legs" on. I wish I had put the canopy on before fitting the top frame to the legs. That would have been easier! :)

Does anyone have installation directions for the 10 X 10 Garden Treasures gazebo? My brother gave me his but it isn't set up and he didn't have the directions. I am hoping that the canopy and netting will hold up through the summer. His ripped up after a storm and he ordered a replacement but never put it back up.

count me in a class action paid 229.00 lasted 4 months

I am back with an update. Since my last blog, Numark has agreed to send me a new canopy, however, we put a "light weight' tarp over it (since it was going to take 8-10 weeks for delivery!!!!!) and the rain puddled again and this time the frame got bent and collapsed!! I have since taken it apart and trashed it. I have learned one thing, my first canopy gazebo had 8 top supports and this one only had four allowing for the puddling. I am purchasing another gazebo and I will make sure it has 8 supports but it won't be from Lowe's/Garden Trasures/Numark!!!! I have found a few searching on the net and wil go to the stores to examine their construction before I buy my next one! Good luck to all! I feel sorry for the next victims that buy this POS!!

I, too, was ripped off. I bought two of them less than a year ago and they are both in shreds. Lowe's should be liable as they sold it. I returned a stereo to Costco after three years and they returned all my money. A class action suit might work. does anyone know a good lawyer who was ripped off like us?

I have joined the club! I have had the exact same problem with the POS canaopy from Lowe's! Thanks for the info. I stopped by the store yesterday and got the company phone number off the box (they had like 20 more of the crappy canopy on the shelf...I wanted to post a sign DON'T BUY THIS POS!!) The last one I had lasted 3 years and I bought it from Walmart (Better Homes and Garden brand). I can see 3 years but not 6 months if that! I almost am reluctant to buy another one of their canopies. And by the way, for those of you who say 'what do you expect for 200 dollars?' the first one I had from Walmart WAS made with real canvas and I paid 200 dollars as well!!! Maybe you don't mind throwing away 200 dollars, but the majority of us do! If you get the lawsuit together, count me in!!!! Send a message to them!

good news.. I am also one that bought this gazebo 10x10 from Lowe's Garden treasures. I read all this and decided to try once again to get this resolved . Low and behold I called Lowe's costumer care 800-445-6937, and told her what had happened, I bought mine 6/23/08 and by 9/15/08 it was completely shreaded . I gave all my imfo and she said she would call the store I bought it from, an they would call me back with in 24 hours...He called Numark with in an hour and told me to also call them and we got it taken care of..I was told they now will be carring this item in store (canopy) and the cost will be 45.00..here is the item number for that #64338....I think that $45.00 is a fair price. see in how it is such a cheap gazebo..Good luck

What a "rip" this thing is pardon the pun. We've had ours up for 6 months and it is getting tears on each side near the frame where water sometimes creates very small pools after rains. I expected this thing to at least make it a year for $200. Count me in on the class action suit - I"m more upset about the wasted afternoon in the 100 degree we spent building it than I am about the money, thought that ticks me off, too!

I thought I was the only one with this problem. I purchased my 8x8 gazebo from Lowe's used it less than 4 months and it rained then my top ripped. As I was looking to replace it no replacement at lowe's got it at a great price, but be careful when they have a sell you can guarantee to replacement. I don't think I will ever buy garden treasures again. Felicia in NC

Finally received the canopy for my gazebo this week. It came on the "slowest boat from China". It took 2 months. I had also bought a solar fountain from Lowes under the name of Garden Treasures, this one is with GeoGlobal Partners (Georgia Pacific is the parent company). Guess what...The fountain says it will run on cloudy days and at night...Well, it did not. I called the company which is in New Jersey, and they told me I had to mail the solar panel. That set me back $20 for shipping. The panels retail price is $99 so it had to be insured. After a few days I called them back and was told that it was the pump but, they were also going to send me a new solar panel....Aleluya...is also back ordered, and it also comes from China...!!!!!!!! Got the pump, now again, have to wait for the solar panel which might take 2-3 weeks. This is incredible. Think I won't buy anything that needs replacement as long as it is made in China...Garden Treasures seems to be the worst..

Hey wild bill texas , I have a question, some people have said that the canopies from Gardenwinds don't fit right, does yours? I have the Garden treasure 10X10 form Lowes.{see posting}

One more comment...I complanined to Lowe's customer care and indicated this website and the rep. from Lowe's was able to sign on the postings and saw the complaints. She promised me that the buyers from Lowe's for this item of NuMark, under the name of Garden Treasures (Lowe's brand for outdoor stuff) would see how many people are disatisfied with the Gazebo...You need to complain to Lowe's customer service...@1-800-445-6937 so they can add it to the complaints against NuMark. The stores try to do the best they can but it is a seasonal item and we are stuck calling or emailing NuMark.

The number for NUMARK is 1-800-457-4652 and the emai is rena@numark.bz she is the supervisor and the canopy I requested replacement is finally coming in. (see my posting of 7/28 under mommaK. As I told them on the phone these canopies...several..were coming in a slow boat from China.

My canopy also had rips in it from normal use, by the velcro straps. When I called I was given the number to call at NuMark. Told them what happened they asked when I purchased it and are sending a replacement out Nov. 1st, I will have to pay about $12 in shipping. I will put the new one on in the spring and see how long it lasts.

So road king you had better luck than the rest of us, you wouldnt be so happy if yours only lasted 5 months!! Mine tore apart after 5 months and there wasnt even a storm. I live in Michigan it only stayed up for a couple of summer months!! Not all year long like in Florida....

I sent a complaint to NuMark and they didnt even respond, how do I contact Garden Treasures?

I sure wish I had found this thread before I bought one of these pieces of CRAP! I put mine up not 3 months ago (Memorial day weekend) and it fell apart last night in the rain. I was just looking to find out where or who I could complain to. Well it's obviuos after reading a lot of the other comments that I am not alone. Does any one have a good replacement to reccomend. I found the gardenwinds replacement but there are a lot of bad reviews in this thread on those too.

OH my god, I can't believe so many people are having the same problem as I am. I bought my gazebo at Lowes in May of 2007 had it up for 3 summer months ,took it down for the winter put it back up in June of this year in July I came home from work and the whole sideof the canopy was shredded I couldn't believe it and there wasnt even a storm!! So it was only up in the weather for 5 months....come on Garden Treasures, you need to replace them all!!

we bought our 10x 10 gazebo at lowes the night before a big bbq! much to our supprize it was missing the canopy, canopoy frame center peice and 4 short bars to connect the canopy, when we called lowes ( i know your not suppose to call the store but we needed the parts asap) the manager was very rude complaining that he will have to throw the one he opens away!!!!! mind you this is now trip # 2 for missing parts! now the canopy is sitting in my back yard broken! GREAT product!

Was anyone able to get a class action suit together against Garden Treasures or Lowes. I have had my canopy only a month and it is already torn to shreds. Please let me know. Thanks

Item number:180270822389 Ebay Price 57.99 10 x 10 replacement canopy by gardenwinds!

Was reading your postings. I have also gone thru 2 canopies and one of the tops. They told at Garden Treasures that I had to take it off when we were going to have bad weather...my response to that was "what if you are not home". The wind started and the rain, and in front of my own eyes the top ripped and it was nothing but shreds. With the first I was not home and when I got back the canopy was shredded. Both times I have been lucky and got to talk to someone in Numark but this last cover is back ordered until August. Hope they ship soon since I need for shade. If this one goes also it will be the last one. I will have a permanent roof built over my 10x10 slab. Awful workmanship and a shame to Lowe's who sells good products and stands behind them. We need to write to Lowe's via email and complain to them so they won't carry that canopy line anymore.

I, too purchased an 8X8 Garden Treasures gazebo from Lowes in late summer of 2007. The top ripped (my fault, snow and wind got to it) I filled out the web form listed here (thanks guys for posting it) and have just received a new one for a whopping $9.33 shipping fee. It came Fed Ex about 2 weeks after I was told it would be back in stock. So far, so good. Going to take it down in September. Does anyone have a successful procedure to avoid the dry rot situation? I got this gazebo for a STEAL at Lowes--like 60% off--less than $70.00. In all fairness, it seems Garden Treasures is responding favorably to complaints and seem to be well aware of the defectiveness of this product

I used the online submission form and was contacted by a Garden Treasures representative who indicated that the parts I needed (canopy and support bar) were on back-order until 08/01 and 09/01 but that they would be sent out to me as soon as they became available. I will let you know if I ever receive them. I simply filled out the online part order form, for my canopy support bar then when I received a reply, I replied back indicating that the canopy was was also compromised at teh velcro strap area. She replied back a couple of days later and said she had ordered the replacement canopy as well and would ship it out when it became available in Sept.....more to come later..

I wish y'all had called me before I bought my 10x10 gazebo. I just bought mine and started putting it up last night. I found that one of the canopy support bars was manufactured incorrectly. I contacted Garden Treasures Customer Support this morning, waited on hold for about 30 seconds and the "Cory" came on the line. I explained my problem and he indicated that the part was back-ordered and that it ouwld be 3-4 weeks before one could be shipped. He took my info and promised to have one shipped as soon as they could. I will, in the meantime, correct the assembly error on the existing support and keep the one they send as a spare. I have used the customer support email feature to contact them as well and have received a response already. I indicated that my canopy velcro connection had been compromised prior to installation and that I would like a replacement canopy sent. I have not received a reply yet but I just sent that off a few minutes ago. I will let eveyone know how that turns out.....

Interesting that Phil is the only positive story here. Phil, have you tried contacting Garden Treasures recently, they are now nowhere to be found - except at your local Lowe's stores. BTW, even the Lowe's staff can't get through to them. This does not stop them from selling the merchandise though, hmmmmm again. My frame is also fine. Garden Winds seems to have a clear consistency issue with their canapy's, one below is too small, mine - too large. Instead of magnets, I just used zip ties to tighten it. It no longer looks great, but at least it's functional. Too bad people aren't reading this BEFORE they buy.

I found this thread while looking for a spare canopy and insect netting... My post is long winded, but I have some ideas and modifications for those of you who care to try. Not that I dispute those with unsatisfactory feedback, but I purchased my gazebo from Lowes in Spring 2005... and I'm very pleased. My gazebo is stream side in a thicket of tall pines and oaks and backed up by a steep hillside, so I do not get much in the way of wind... My gazebo is also fastened with 3" concrete screws (four screws per corner per the factory holes) to 16" x 16" x 2" concrete patio "tiles" (the zig zag shaped type cast like random stone) available from Lowes. I didn't bother with the stakes, as I designed my streamside patio as a permanent fixture. Good thing too, because in July 2005, I had 18" of raging flood water (stream overflowed it's banks) flowing through my patio: limbs, branches, debris, mulch, leaves, you name it; and lots and lots of angry, brown water. (I did go and tie up the insect netting when the water was only 3" deep.. so no debris would rip it.) My patio furniture cushions were floating in the water. Good thing they were tied to the metal furniture which I moved to higher ground anyway! Not a year later; upstate NY goes through one of the worst caterpillar infestations in recorded history. (Why do I get the impression I'm living through the Ten Plagues.. What's next... Boils? LOL) Anyhow; the canopy was stained brown from caterpillar droppings! Called Garden Treasures and had a new canopy in 3 days (they shipped it Priority Mail). I also inquired about an extra set of shelves, to put an additional shelf closer to the top. (At the arch metal about 10" down from the eaves. They shipped them free of charge, and now I have double the shelves than the standard model. I took the original canopy (now stained), put it into a commercial laundromat sized washer with a cup of Clorox and a cup of detergent, and voila! Almost as good as new. Now I alternate canopies, roughly every other year. I just put the original back on and took the "back up" canopy off (which is now stained as well but was up for two years). As for durability, I leave my gazebo up for most of the winter... Snow, ice and all! I use 2" x 2" pressure treated lumber as braces where the horizontal cross members are joined together (I notched a "U" shaped channel to lock them in place, and fifth 2" x 2" in the middle to support the peak. (I whittled the tip to make it round and fit into the tubular peak hinge (I have to take the cupola insect net halfway off - who cares it's winter!) When the snow gets 8" or deeper, I whack the snow off from the inside with a broom. I've suffered no degradation or damage to the canopy... But, I do get the puddling problem during some rains, and I have two methods to remedy: 1) The velcro canopy tabs are long enough to wrap around the horizontal members two full wraps. If you have someone pull gently down on the edge of the canopy, you can fasten pretty tight so there is no extra fabric to slacken and form puddles. I've never had to do the following: but you can ties weights to the canopy to get theslack out too. You can get extra large paper fasteners (the spring steel type that hold 100 pages) and attach the clip to edge of canopy. Tie a length of nylon twine to the finger clasp of the clip and the other end to a brick. That should keep the canopy taut. If anyone needs photos, sketches or in depth details, please feel free to email me: bedt14@aol.com Hope my ideas help! Best To All, Phil

"Made in China" explains a lot. I didn't notice that when I bought it. Over the last year or so I've become more aware and have noticed that most of the garden center stuff sold in Lowe's is "Made in China" ... except for the plants, of course. Very disappointing.

I bought this. The first canopy didn't even last into the Fall. By Fall it had become very brittle and was then torn to pieces by a moderate storm.I bought a replacement this Spring from Garden Winds. The replacement was a much heavier fabric. However, it didn't fit tightly. The venting/drainage grommet holes were poorly placed and water would pool on it whenever it rained.I had been meaning to add better grommet holes. However, I probably won't now. The velcro straps have all since pulled out from wind. I had it tied down, but water still pooled and in today's storm it tore in several places. Now, I'm trying to decide whether to buy another "good" (ie. expensive) canopy, go to the local dollar store for the cheapest one I can find, or ditch this whole thing after just barely a year of use.The frame well done and sturdy, but the canopies are very poorly engineered and crap. I cannot recommend.

OMG, I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE. WE BOUGHT OURS 2 YRS AGO, AND AFTER A FEW MONTHS, IT RIPPED. CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER AND SAID IT WASN'T COVERED IF CAUSED BY WIND. THE SOLD ME A REPLACEMENT FOR 25.00, COST OF SHIPPING. I CALLED THEM RECENTLY, BECAUSE AFTER BEING CAREFUL AND MAKING SURE IT WAS DOWN FOR WIND, IT RIPPED AGAIN, CALLED THE NUMBER AND THEY NO LONGER SELL REPLACEMENT PARTS. SHE GAVE ME A WEB SITE TO GO TO, WHERE IT IS OUT OF STOCK TILL SOMETIME IN JUNE. AFTER PURCHASING IT THEY WILL SEND IT TO YOU WHEN IN STOCK, APPROX 4-6 WEEKS. WELL, THAT MEANS SUMMER WILL BE OVER. SOME KIND OF CRAP. SIGN ME UP FOR THE CLASS ACTION SUIT CYNDI

I had been going crazy about my POS Lowes' 10x10 canopy when I tripped upon this forum. I printed a copy, highlighted in red negative comments ("class action lawsuit," etc) and in green positive comments ("the Lowe's manager gave me a new one out of the box". I dug out my receipt and warranty and headed to the Lowes. The girl at the service desk read some of the postings, and got the store manager on the phone. At first, he said to bring the entire canoy back. I told them I had no intention of taking the frame apart since the problem was the canopy and not the frame. He then said to just bring the canopy in and he would replace it - for free. I did, and he lived up to his promise as well. Only thing is, the style has changed from when I bought my original canopy, with "this year's model" having a little "eave" that extends beyond the frame. I just let this drape down - no sense having another leading edge to catch wind with. Two things about this canopy. You have GOT to be prepared to take it down during bad weather. We just let it drape down to the center, bundle it, and tie it up with an old shoestring. Second thing, we have learned that some magnets placed on the canopy help to hold it onto the frame during less severe weather. These magnets are about 2"x1"x1/4", available just about anywhere (including Lowes!). The more magnets, the better. We are up to about 20 now. Do I think this replacement canopy is going to last? Probably not, but at least for now I have the satisfaction of a new replacement canopy that didn't cost me anything but a little time and effort. Removing the old canopy is not that hard - you just have to unbolt 2 legs of the big canopy support frame, bring them straight down, and let them rest on something about 12" tall (we used an upturned mop bucket) while you remove the canopy pieces, top piece first. Then, reverse the operation to intall the new canopy. Remember to put the large piece on first, top piece second BEFORE reassembling the canopy support frame. Good luck! Hope your Lowes' manager is as nice as mine was!

For the Garden Treasures 10x10 canopy replacement I would advise against Garden Winds. It does not fit...too small! I just returned mine. It cost me $40 postage from CA to Va and back.

Try Gardenwinds.com

I also need a replacement after 6 months of use. Does anyone know of a better brand that fits the Garden Treasures 10 x 10 frame?

I bought mine for $300 and it is still about the same price here. These don't have finneals, so I don't know which one shaffer24 has. There doesn't seem to be website nor phone number for this distributor/manufacturer anymore, maybe it's Lowe's we turn against. They are still selling this stuff. BTW, I just bought a new canopy top from Garden Winds for a 10x10 and it is way too big for the frame. Don't see a choice though if I want any cover. I am using zip ties to try and make it work.

Wow ...I'm so sorry to hear that everyone is having all these problems! There must have been a change in vendors during late 2005/2006 as I purchased 3 of these in 2004/2005. It looks almost identical (the framework is identical for the most part) but the top of the canopy is made of a heavy woven canvass type material and there are a total of 5 finnals (sp?) on the top corners/center. This canopy was Item # 18964 and I actually found a picture of it (on the far right on this screen under related products towards the bottom) as they still carry the netting for this canopy (Item 19010-Model 2FM002C) by Garden Treasures. My canvass has held up wonderfully for the last 3+ years; we store them each winter in a plastic bin in the garage and leave the framework up year round. No chipping, or even marks on the framework...that has held up great. I did loose one framework to my canopies in a bad storm but there were extenuating circumstances so it wasn't totally the manufacturers fault. So, I now have an extra canopy and I'm searching for the framework. Perhaps this one will work with my canopy top...will have to check it out. I see Target has one similar as well. Would also like to purchase 1 more canopy set so I have a total of 4 but I certainly won't buy this one with the horror stories. If anyone has the "old style" canvass (heavy duty ..does not sag from rain) that is in good shape, I would be interested in purchasing. I called Garden Treasures to see if they had any of the old style replacement canopies that I could purchase and of course they only have the netting. They referred me to the manufacturer which is Boli....phone # 877-941-0475. I called that # and got a message that the National Directory Listing had changed to 10-15-15-800 so I don't even know if Boli has a Customer Service #/company in the USA. I called 800 directory assistance and got nothing for Boli nor did the on-line www.tollfreeda.com have anything for them. I did google and I think I found the website for the company (out of China) but I didn't see any canopies that matched on the website. I sent an email to their customer care department with the information so maybe I'll hear something back from them. If I happen to find these canopies, I will definitely put the information out here. I would definitely recommend this canopy top!!!

For the money, 188.00, what do we expect of the canopy? I have no real complaints other than the fact it is cumbersome to remove for bad weather. Other than that, I honestly got what I paid for. I could have paid several hundred more and got canvas but I didn't. I called customer service, it was quick, they were agreeable and I am satisfied.

And by "not" contemplating, I mean I AM contemplating. Oops.

Ours never even came with the canopy. Lowes said they would do something about, but they didn't, of course. I'm not heavily contemplating just growing some nice vines on it.

I bought my gazebo two years ago had it up for one. Stored the canopy in a closet in my house and it was dry rotted when I tried to put it up a month ago. Sign me up for the class action lawsuit

Good luck! The website does not work anymore...when you call the number it says they are to busy to take your call- call back later. This is a piece of sh-t! Got mine at Lowes also and Paid $188.00. The canopy has lasted 1 month. It is ripping everywhere. I have always had great quality from Lowes but I am very dis-appointed with Lowes selling such a piece of crap. I will join in your class action lawsuit. How can we get it started? Please keep me posted as well. James

I have 2 of the same gazebos that everyone else here has (10x10) & the same problem with the canopies. There is no possible way to contact this company, I've tried everything. I'd love to join a class action lawsuit. Keep me posted.

count me in!! I bought this gazebo last year. I stored the canopy in the house for the winter and when I went to put it up last week, it was dry rotted. I am writing a letter to the public relations department of Lowes. I want a replacement canopy but not the same quality that came with the gazebo. I love the frame and hate to buy a new one. I'm just as ticked off as everyone else. I'll let you know if I make any progress. aaltiere@comcast.net LaPlata, MD

I will join in on the class action if there is one. I have the 10x10 model 225175. Purchased in 2006, the canopies will last about 4 months each. I only leave it on during the summer and have purchased four replacements and need another for this year. I am considering making a pattern out of it and sewing my own from shade fabric this time. Has anyone done that? I am not very crafty, but I really like the frame and am desperate. Pam Cone pam@pamcone.com Tacoma, WA

Everyone is having the same problem with this brand. I bought this Gazebo back in 2006. While I was at Lowes asking the clueless employees about getting a replacement canopy I finally gave up on them and looked on the box for the contact information. While I was looking over the box guess what I saw, "MADE IN CHINA" Maybe this explains the poor quality of the product. For the past year I look to see where a product is made or assembled. If it is not made in the USA I dont buy it, as you could imagine I am saving quite a bit of money, however, the things I do buy "MADE IN THE USA" are better quality AND if I need a replacement part I can get it without a problem. Yeah I pay more for products "MADE IN THE USA" but I know what I am getting.

I purchased an 8 x 8 canopy today and when I got it home, I found it had no directions and NO CANOPY! After reading this blog, I simply through it back in my truck and just returned from getting a refund. I'm done with Lowe's!

i agree with a class action lawsuit, thats the only way lowes will recall or replace these canopies. they are the one that sold the product they should be held accountable for such a sorry product.

OMG I can't beleive what I am reading. I have the same problem , I went to lowes today and they couldn't give me ANY info. I emailed Lowes and they finally after two weeks replied and gave me the phone # below. I bought my gazebo last may and we took the canopy off for the winter and put it back up and it seems like it dry rotted over the winter sitting in the garage and now at the slightest breeze it seems to be ripping to shreds. I say that all of us get together and file a class action law suit against Lowes and NuMark. That is complete BS that you pay almost $200.00 for something and have it out for what five months tops and you can't even use it the next year. I live in Norhtern Michigan and trust me the summers aren't that long here, and the winters can be brutal, so naturally I brought it in for the winter. Good thing I did or I would probaly have a hole right throught the whole thing. I am so frustrated, I don't have a lot of money, $200 is not cheap for my check book. I am really mad that I pretty much wasted that money and I can't even do anything about it. Oh yeah, I could PURCHASE a replacement canopy, then what next year I have to PURCHASE another replacement? This is BS. We shouldn't have to be treated this way, what ever happened to standing behind your product, and providing good customer service? UGH!! If any one is interested in a class action law suit, please contact me hcbkakennedy@yahoo.com. Thank you.

I want to thank you all for helping me make the decision to tear down my gazebo and trash it. I was considering buying my 3rd canopy cover and after reading all these complaints it wasn't too hard to make up my mind. Lowes, Garden Treasures and the Outdoor Patio Store are all thieves and will be reported to the Better Bussiness Bureau. I will not go into details but the quality, craftmenship and pride that goes into a quality item is ill apparent here. Hey what the heck, maybe I will buy a couple more canopy covers and then I can say I should should have built my own wooden gazebo. Its obvious I would have spent that much.

I just spoke to a rep at this company as I was also looking for an 8X8 replacement. Lowe's was kind enough to give me their phone number but I explained to the rep that Lowes is selling the 10X10 replacements for $40 and I just had to pay her $68.38 for the replacement 8X8 she's mailing me. I had her pull up this site as we spoke and told her they should be aware of these complaints. All she said was that Lowes is not authorized to sell replacements at all.At any rate, if you're patient enough to sit on their line waiting for them to pick up, eventually you can get a replacement. I guess I will be more careful with this one given how pricey they are!

I have the same promblem!! I purchased the 10'x10' in 2007 on to find out that i could not keep the canopy connected through even a slight wind. It finally riped in is now worthless. I went to Lowes to purchase a new one hoping they would have something that was better and stronger only to find out I would have to order by phone or web-site. I too have not been able to reach a live person with GT.

I just got a free replacement mailed out to me, well I had to pay $12 shipping. Called the number that is listed below and the first guy named Cory tried to blame the canopy tearing on natural wear and tear when I argued with him he said I had to fax in my receipt(which I no longer had) and he would see what he could do. I bought my Gazebo in December of 06 and did not put it up until June of 07, took it down for winter and then put it back up about two months ago. Then right away it started tearing. Not having a receipt I decided to try my luck again with a new person. After being on hold for 15 mins. Courtney answered, I explained my tearing canopy, told her I bought it on June 14 of 07 and she asked for the item number off my receipt. I gave her an item # I found on an old Lowes ad online(sku#225175) and just like that she mailed it out no questions asked. She also said this new canopy also has a one year warranty so if anything happens in a year I can get another new one for free. I hope Courtney still works there in a year because I know this is going to tear again(piece of crap) I also forgot just tell them it is tearing at the velcro straps and that it went through no storms(they will ask). Good Luck

I have just read the many comments below about the canopy that were purchased from Lowes in 06 and 07. I found this site as I was looking for a replacement canopy as well. I had the same problems and I even sprayed the cover with a waterproof spray and it actually made the material dry rot in a sense. The material ripped away from 1/2 of the velcro straps. All of the comments have been very helpful. Lowes should be assamed to sell this product to so many consumers.

I have been calling the garden treasures customer service number 1-800-457-4652 and all I am doing is sitting on hold. Then after about 7 min it hangs up on me. Has anyone else had this problem? I need a new top because the one I had ripped into pieces. Can anyone help me?

What is the model number of this canopy?

I ordered my 10 x 10 replacement from Garden Winds for this gazebo and it does not fit the same as the original one. It is a little big and the 2nd tier on top is way too big. We had to use the original top tier with the new new bottom portion. Despite all that, the new one from Garden Winds is a better quality.

I have been on hold with Garden Treasures for 35 minutes this morning...they keep telling me my call is important to them. Doesn't appear likely. I purchased a replacement from garden winds and it doesn't even come close to fitting. This is really frustrating to me. Our original canopy did last for two seasons. DW

Does anyone know where I can get instruction on how to put the 10 x 10 back up? Ours was ripped up off the deck last October. The top is the part we are having a problem with.

We bought the 10x10 at the end of the summer 07. After a thunderstorm came thru here a few months later, the canopy top ripped to shreds. The quality is horrible. The frame/style itself is great - I love the shelves and color. I called the 800 for Garden Treasures and expressed my concerns. When she asked how it got ripped, I said from the wind. That voided my warranty!!! Beware!!!!! Do NOT say anything about acts of nature or it will void your warranty. I got a replacement piece of crap (both the big one and the crown top) and it totaled $89 w/ shipping. The rep was nice but the fact that they ask first how it was damaged, then I mentioned the warranty - terrible! Be careful w/ your words when you call. Just tell them the fabric is ripped on it's own.

I have one of the 10 x 10 gazebos; used it all last summer and fall (2007). It did a great job, and we enjoyed it a lot. The large canopy shredded in one area, at the end of the season, most likely due to the sun's UV rays. I just phoned Garden Treasures' customer service, 1-800-457-4652. The rep was very friendly and helpful, and they are sending me a new canopy under warranty. The whole unit cost less than $200, for Pete's sake! What do you expect? Just chill out a little bit, and call customer service. And don't go into the conversation shouting and raving.Gator

This is unforgiveable! I always figured Lowe's for better than peddling this kind of one-use disposable plunder! What fools we were to believe!! Never again!! Our 8X8 top went to shreds after a mere six months of use with nary a replacement in sight ("what a lovely frame you have there" say the smart-alec neighbors next door!). Someone at Lowe's purchasing department MUST know that these Garden Treasures products are essentially worthless -- why do they continue to dump them onto an unsuspecting public?? ARRRGHH!

I have had same problems.. the canopy is inferior and I have bought 2 replacements ones. I love the size of it and have been reluctant to give it up but, I am tired of spending money on replacement canopies.

Can i replace the canopy without removing the top ?

At my LOWES here in Virginia Beach, they had about 10 -20 of the 10x10 tops...for 40 bucks...but sure wish i could find one for the 8x8...about to put my house on the market, and would look nice to keep the gazebo up...

Seems like everyone does have the same problem! My top went from perfect one day to shredded the next for no apparent reason before even one year was up. This top is really low quality and Lowes should do something since they represented the product. By the way, for two days now, the customer service number for Garden Treasures "All reps are busy now, please call later" and hangs up on you. I'm going to order a replacement from somewhere else. I've got to get better quality. It cant' get worse. Does the company see this page? What about Lowes? With this many unhappy customers all with the same problem, something should be done. By the way, Lowes still sells the 8x8 gazebo (not the 10zx10) which I'm sure has the same canvas material as the 10x10 model. Buyers BEWARE!!!!! Furthermore, hen I called Lowes about the problem they told me it was out of their hands and offered no real help.

I found this site for 8X8 replacement http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000WFJKV8/ref=sr_1_olp_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1207363589&sr=1-1

My 2nd replacement canopy just ripped again 25 mph winds of course, we all know without modifing the frame. Has anyone found any other source to purchase a higher quality canopy.

Does anyone know of a replacement for the 8' x 8' model??

I see many are in the same boat. I did a slight modification to mine so I can remove the canopy with no problems. On the upper little cover for the wind vent I remove two of the support braces by drilling out the rivets. With two of these brace removed you can remove the canopy without any problems. To reinstall the braces I used 2 each 1/2" and 2 each 5/8" threaded post you can get at Lowes or Home Depot. My canopy made it about 18 months before the wind got it but I think the real problem is the sun. With the modification I can now remove the canopy for the season or when the wind get out of control.

Thank you for all of your comments and info. I am also having the same problem. The velcro straps started to rip first. Then the top of the cover tore. We were not sure if the neighbors cat jumped up there and ripped it or what. It looked so bad that we had to take the entire cover off. I am going to try to call the numbers you listed. Perhaps we should write a group letter to the company. Thanks!

We got 2 years service before a heavy wind gust rip a few tears near velco straps. That and leaving up from april to october, eventually disentegrated canopy whereas moisture has leaked though. ordered a replacement from outdoorpatio.com, $80.11, shipping 8.77, discount code LS5229 for -$4.05 I guess will be ok if we can get another 2 years out of it...BUT..after 3 different manufactuers, my next will be SUNSETTER retractable!!

i have an idea. can anyone email me a reciept.im sure they will take any one. we shouldnt let them get over on us thanks

omg. bought this piece of garbage from lowes last year the canopy shredded. what a piece of garbage

We should form a club! I bought the gazebo from Lowe's, waited about 3 months before I put it up (on my back deck. It started tearing out from the drainage hole gromets. I got through the end of summer and then ordered a new one in Nov. Waited until May to put the second one up and it was torn off within a month, taking the small top awning with it. Now my warranty is up and I have a bare frame and don't want to have to invest another $100.00. Anyone have ideas? (DrGreenGiant)

I bought this gazbeo last summer I didn't get much use of the product, because the material shreaded in a matter of weeks. I bought it at Lowe's but couldn't find the receipt and I called the company and they also requested a receipt. I think with this many complaints there should be a recall and a free replacement. I am glad I am not the only one out there complaining on this product.

I also have the same problems. i received the promo code but decided to check out ebay first. i found a replacement canopy that "looks" a bit nicer, and about $30 more. They have an ebay store called HOLIDAY EXTREME. Don't know anything about it though. Good luck!

Thanks for the good information. I also purchased mine at Lowe's, and I agree the fabric is too weak. Thankfully, I have my receipt, and if I have to request a new cover every 90 days, I will. Thanks!! jt

They WILL NOT replace this without proof of purchase and it is covered under a 1 yr warranty!!!!

This is absolutely ridiculous! I wish that I never purchased this! Whoever designed this did a HORRIBLE job! This gazebo shouldn't even be sold in the stores any longer! I bought this last summer and used it for like a month and the velcro straps were ripping...not only that but we bolted it to the deck and didn't realize that you have to totally take down the entire gazebo to even get the fabric topper off to store it for winter! How crazy is that! Why didn't they just put a zipper on it so you could remove it that way! Also, this thing holds water when it rains....which made it rip more! URRRRRR! Don't EVER purchase this product if you are looking for a Gazebo!

When you fo to the patio sdtore to purchase, it won't let you checkout, it has a page error. Also, our canopy lasted over a year. It is worth replacing the top since the structure itself, bolted to the deck isd very sturdy in the high winds we get.

A replacement top can be purchased at www.theoutdoorpatiostore.com. Use this code and get a discount LS5229. When you log in go to accessories and it will pop up first.

Just adding my experience to the list here. Our canopy tore in so many places, even with very careful use. There are tears all over it. I called the customer service number. They asked me to send a copy of my receipt. Fortunately, I still had it. I am paying $19.90 for shipping for a free replacement canopy. I am not happy about paying the shipping, especially since the replacement canopy is exactly the same and will also tear, but I guess it is worth it to be able to continue to use it for another year. Has anyone found other, higher quality canopies that will fit this frame?

Finally, a place to find a replacement top. I had my gazebo for about 5 months and it ripped and shredded. I rcvd it as a gift and did not keep box or any papers. Thanks for the customer service number. I'll give it a try!

We received, very quickly, a replacement top from Garden Treasures, (customer service). But it is identical to the original which tore after 4 months. We worry that the replacement will equally tear. Question for Inivens64, is the material of the gardenwinds top the same as or different than the original from Garden Treasures? jpdpgp

I see we all are in the same boat with this canopy top - I too called my local Lowes for replacement information and they could not help me at all. Thanks to this site I was able to get a replacement top. www.gardenwinds.com and also www.theoutdoorpatiostore.com were great contacts, the replacement canopy cost abt $81.00 to $89.00.

What kind of warranty is on the the fabric. Does anyone know? I have only had it 5 months and started seeing problems with tears in the velcro strap areas at 3 months and thought we could manage and then the whole thing just shredded.

Thanks for all of your input. I am as unhappy as all of you. Mine just tore right up the corner seam and I had to cut it off the frame before our greyhounds got entangled in the stupid thing. I DID call the customer svce. number ya'll listed and she said they would ship a replacement and that I should receive it in 7-10 business days. I'll let you all know. Judij33

Makes you wonder why Lowes still sells them? Manager at my local store was taking roofs out of the box for his customers but he had to stop because they were not replacing the defective ones.I now have a frame on my patio with no roof.

Good luck on the replacement cover.....lowes can't even get them (this is where I originally purchased mine) Personally I think this thing was quite cool, however its become more hassle than its worth.

http://www.onlinecustomerassistance.com/ THIS IS THE HELP FOR GARDEN TREASURES GAZEBOS

i just purchase my garden tresures gazebos and the top is rip due to the rip in the seams. I need a replacement roof.. anyone can you help!!!!!!!! no paperwork came in the box for the warranty. I need a new gazebo and it not even 4 month old as yet. nicole please help!!!!!!!!

Lowe's Customer Serivce gave ma a web site and promo code for a 5% discount. www.theoutdoorgardenstore.com and promo code 5296MW. I also found the replacement top at http://www.gardenwinds.com/index.php?cPath=28_4_77

Good luck with your top search, might I suggest the company that Makes Garden Treasure Gazebos - NuMark of Avon, Illinois.Their extremely slow customer service department can be reached at 1-800-457-4652. Ask for Tammy, tell her George sent you. You also might want to ask why NuMark uses Chinesecanopies that are real junk. I replaced mine the first year because of rips in the seams and at the velcro tie down areas. The replacement they sent has only lasted 4 months with good care - it too is torn. Good Luck, NuMark also has a "customer service" web page - good luck finding it, even if you do, it is also VERY SLOW!!!!!

http://www.gardenwinds.com/index.php?cPath=28_4_77 I think this link might help you. I'm having the same problem with mine. I'm trying to find out more about their 1- year limited warranty on it. Do y'all know?

I have the same problem. I can't find a replacement top either. Post back if you find one and I will do the same. mariab
