We approach dance as an adventure to be explored from every possible vantage point; a journey rather than a destination. Good Moves has four components: Consort (pre-professional repertory company), Ed Source (non-profit dance school). Outreach and Moving On (young professional ensemble). These components work together to provide the best possible dance experience for the individuals and communities served by Good Moves. The Consort has been recognized for its artistic excellence both locally and nationally. The company has received invitations to dance in the Modern Atlanta Dance Festival, by the Limón Foundation and at the American Dance Festival at Duke University. It repertory features works by both local and national choreographers and includes historic reconstructions, and ballet and modern works. Ed Source offers classes at minimal charge. It provides high quality instruction and small class size in a variety of dance forms for the beginning student through the professional. It is also host to master class series that feature local and national artists. Outreach has touched hundreds of people in the Atlanta area. It provides performances, workshops and residencies through community partnerships. Current community partners include the Fox Theatre, City of Atlanta's M.L.K. Recreation Center and the Inman Park Neighborhood Association. It is through this program that Good Moves produces the Inman Park Dance Festival, the only dance festival in Georgia to present both ballet and modern works. Moving On is a young professional performing ensemble. This program is being designed to support conservatory students with summer employment. Moving On provides site specific performances and workshops. This program is supported in part by the City of Atlanta Bureau of Cultural Affairs.
