Streamgarden is a small personal garden for your home or place of work. It is designed to use the hydroponics technique in an integrated system. Hydroponics gives a magnificent and fast growth of plants. At the same time it is using water and nutrition in an efficient way. This cultivating technique has been used by NASA on space stations as well as when cultivating in extreme conditions both in warm and cold climates. Today it is common in commercial greenhouses all over the world for growing for example tomatoes, cucumbers, other vegetables and flowers. We have transferred this industrial cultivation technique into the urban enviroment and adopted it to the demands of the modern urban people. Irregular working hours, travelling and many activities outside the own home makes it tricky to keep normal plants in good condition. << BACK We have made the Streamgarden very user friendly. Instead of giving plants water every day as when growing in soil, you need to check the water level and refill approximately once a week. Every third month you need to exchange all the water and refill with nutrition. By having this minimal level of maintenance we are sure that we can interest people that today feel they do not have the possibility to cultivate plants. Streamgarden also gives you a fascinating possibility to see how the root system develops, giving a unique close-up view of the eco system. The Streamgarden is a platform, giving each user the possibility to form the final result. Some may want to cultivate their own herbs and spices for use in the kitchen, others perhaps likes strawberries or flowers and yet another wants to have climbing plants and fill up a window in summertime. This is cool. Cool to look at. Cool to use. Much more stylish than the Aerogarden. But the Aerogarden does have it's own light source. I'll take one of each, then, please.
