I read this as a kid and here I am about to buy it for my son (aged 6). If you like the quirky anarchic qualities of Roald Dahl this may appeal. The story of a boy who fends for himself...and enjoys it...his parents leave him while they have their own adventures and Grimble (that's his only name) gets on with life in general and cooking in particular (he's the inventor of onion fudge) in a funny and unusual book. I'm knocking on a bit now, but of the thousands of books I read as a nipper this one stuck in my head, can't wait to read it again! Comment | Permalink | Was this review helpful to you? (Report this)
