What one person perceives as 'medium length hairstyles' varies greatly with another person. Our breakdown is as follows: VERY SHORT HAIRSTYLES: The weight line of the hairstyles is at or above the ear line. SHORT HAIRSTYLES: The cut line of the hairstyles is between the ear and the jaw line. MEDIUM HAIRSTYLES: The weight line of the hairstyles is between the jaw and the shoulder. LONG HAIRSTYLES: Below the shoulder hairstyles. FUNKY HAIRSTYLES: Hairstyles of all sizes, shapes and lengths, ranging from the chic to the crazy. UPDO HAIRSTYLES: Updos are a tricky thing and even most hairstylists are not good at them. If you plan on dancing at the event, most updos will not survive very long at all. Especially for Prom I suggest to most of my clients that they go with a sexy down style instead. Ultimately they tend to have alot more fun at the dance. Do not wash your hair the day of the event! Shampoos and conditioners make the hair slippery and lead to updo fall out. Make sure you use as many hair pins as possible. The more, the better. Hair is heavy and gravity is persistant. I highly recommend a dry run. Have whoever is doing your hair practice on you a day or two before the event. Your success rate will be much higher. IN GENERAL: If you think you would like 'medium length', you should bracket and also look at all of the 'short hairstyles' and 'long hairstyles' as the differences are at times slight. Ignore the age, race, size and hair color of the model. Most hairstyles will fit any age group and hair color is an easy adjustment. Don't let these be a tool to narrow your list of potential hairstyles or hair cuts.
