In addition to henna services we also offer event and entertainment services serving the entire San Francisco Bay Area and the surrounding cities. We specilize in large events with attendance in thousands and are the premier source of artists and entertainers for private and corporate events. Our clients include Google, Zivity, Accenture, Cappucino High School, Boomers amusement parks, Bentley High Schools & more. At Holistic Henna we firmly believe in philanthropic causes and our artists use their talents to raise funds for various charities once every two months. In the past we have served local charities such as American Cancer Society / relay for life.org, HERS Breast Cancer Foundation & OSF.org (Organization of Special Needs Families). Visit our Calendar of Events & we invite you to join our next fund raising event.   WHAT IS HENNA / MEHNDI?  Mehndi is the ancient art form of painting the body with paste made from the leaves of henna, a plant found in Australia, Asia and off the coasts of Africa by the Mediterranean Sea. Henna, or "Lawsonia inermis" for the science enthusiasts, can grow up to 10 feet high, blooming yellow, white and pink four-petaled flowers. The henna plant is harvested three times per year. It is cut, dried and sold as whole leaves or in powdered form. To make the actual henna paste that is applied to the body, artists add ingredients such as eucalyptus oil, olive oil or tamarind. The mixed ingredients are placed in a jacquard bottle (a half-ounce plastic bottle with a metal tip) or a traditional cone and carefully applied to the skin, creating beautiful, intricate works of art. When first applied, henna is a dark color; however, once the paste dries and is peeled away, a beautiful orange and rust color remains. Henna art is a tradition in many cultures including Jewish, African, Middle Eastern and East Indian.  IMPORTANT NOTE ON THE HENNA WE USE: We only use fresh & 100% natural henna. Holistic Henna condemns the use of Black Henna which is an unsafe chemical and not real henna.
