Its discovery marks the greatest achievement of human being in terms of science and technology. Just imagine going through the process of examining a frog in a usual biology lab without a microscope, pretty difficult right? With the use of microscope things around the laboratory is much easier and experiments are more reliable since we have an outstanding view of what’s beyond the lens of a microscope. With so many microscope attachments and various types of microscope we have come to an age when things impossible before are now slowly shedding some light through utilizing a high powered microscope, one of which is binocular compound microscope. Binocular compound microscope is designed with two eyepieces using both eyes to have a better view of the specimen. A standard binocular compound microscope has more optical and mechanical parts and this piece of microscopic equipment is capable of providing higher magnification, and not to mention provides an inverted image of the object. Going back to history, binocular compound microscope was designed and was built by Camille Sebastien Nachet in the late 1850’s. According to a research, binocular compound microscope has the most unique feature of the true stereoscopic image produced by a beam splitter, which directs light into each separate eye piece by means of a series of prisms. It is sophistically engineered with a stage plate that holds a smaller beveled glass stage and is attached where the horseshoe base and the limb meet. You don’t have to worry on focus since it is proficient with a rack and pinion mechanism that you can simply move the microscope head in an upward and downward position. Binocular compound microscope provides a three dimensional viewing since it was designed with two tapered pillars inserted in the base. Its tilting stage is attached with a telescopic tube carrying the illumination mirror and binocular body tube.
