Applicants who are medical school seniors should follow the usual procedure of the matching plan. Those who have already completed a year or more of post medical school training are handled individually by the department and should contact the program director about openings. ERAS is usually online by mid-August and we review applications through December. Interviews usually take place between November 1 and January 31. General Application Requirements: Applicants meeting the following criteria will be considered for a residency position in Pathology: * Graduates of: * a medical school in the United States or Canada accredited by the Liason Committee on Medical Education (LCME), OR * a college of osteopathic medicine in the United States accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), OR * a medical school outside the US and Canada who have a currently valid certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), OR * a medical school outside the US and Canada who have a full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a US licensing jurisdiction, OR * a medical school outside the US who have completed a Fifth Pathway program provided by an LCME-accredited school * Participants in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) if applying prior to the match. PGY-1 Application Requirements: All applications for PGY-1 positions must be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). The following documents must be provided via ERAS: * ERAS Common Application Form (CAF), * Curriculum Vitae, * One-page personal statement, * Medical school transcript, * Dean's letter, * Three letters of reference, * USMLE scores, and * ECFMG scores (international medical graduates). Applicants transferring from or who have completed study in another field and who are applying for a PGY-1 pathology position must provide a letter of recommendation and evaluation from the director(s) or the program(s). In addition to the above "General" and "PGY-1" requirements, candidates must: * have successfuly completed a certified PGY-1 training program, and * provide a letter of recommendation from the faculty member supervising the current or most recent year of clinical training. PGY-2 through PGY-4 Application Requirements: International Medical Graduates (IMG): In addition to the requirements listed above, foreign medical graduates must have: * valid ECFMG certificate, * a J-1 visa, green card, or permanent residency/US citizenship, and * demonstrated written and spoken English skills (e.g. TOEFL test scores).
