DesignTalk says: After redecorating or moving into a new home, it seems one of the last projects is always hanging pictures on the wall. It’s no surprise, either, for arranging photos is a decorating challenge that can stump even the most seasoned home decorator. We’ve scoured the web for the best tips for hanging family photos and arranging art on a wall. We’ve included plenty of photos so you can see examples of photo arrangements and displays. Enjoy! 1. From Martha Stewart: Here is a simple look that works well in a hallway or above a couch or table. As shown in the picture, the frames are the same color and general shape and hung in a straight line. Depending on your photos, you can hang the frames all horizontally, all vertically, or in an alternating pattern as shown. 2. From Real Simple: Group a collection of framed family photos of different sizes to create one unified shape. If you have enough pictures, you could fill the space of a narrow wall or the space above the couch. Try to group photos tightly, with no more than an inch or two between photos. 3. From HP: Create a display of family photographs using ledge shelves or display shelves. This is a great solution for frames of various sizes, and makes it easy to mix up the display now and then. This is also a good solution for apartments or rental homes, because it minimizes the number of nail holes in the wall. 4. From Michaels: The arts and crafts mega-store gives tips on hanging photos at an angle (such as along a staircase), plus tips on planning the layout and hanging the photos. 5. From DesignTalk: In a previous question, we offered tips for hanging pictures, and help for achieving visual balance when hanging multiple frames on a wall. One suggestion is to include design accents along with the frames to help break up the wall space and better showcase the display. One example: No matter how you hang your frames, the most important feature is the photos themselves. Displaying treasured family portraits and casual moments on the wall is one of the best ways to personalize your home and share your memories with those around you. Every time you relax in your living room, you’ll have a visual reminder of the blessings in your life. Good luck, and be sure to send us a photo of your finished arrangement!
