I was really fascinated to find out that L. Ron Hubbard was intent on a social mission from the very beginning of the Scientology movement. I knew that the aims of Scientology are aligned in that direction. I just had no idea he was looking at this way back in 1950 and 1951. I'm reading my Scientology Basic Books and just finished Dianetics: the Modern Science of Mental Health and began Science of Survival today . and was so surprised to read the first section: A world without insanity, without criminals and without war—this is the goal of Dianetics. For thousands of years Man has struggled forward with this conquest of the material universe, but he has known almost nothing about his most valuable possession: the human mind. Despite this obstacle of ignorance, he has made progress. But because of this obstacle, he has made progress.
