Normally, with age, women have more difficulties achieving sexual arousal, especially having in mind that sexual desire and “getting in the mood” usually comes second to taking care of kids, laundry, sticking to a healthy diet, etc. Yet, age and daily responsibilities are not the only reasons contributing to the loss of female libido. There are all sorts of physical and psychological factors influencing women’s sex drive: * Some major diseases (neurological diseases, coronary artery disease, kidney disease, diabetes, arthritis, cancer, etc.) * Some prescribed medications (blood pressure medications, chemotherapy drugs, antidepressants, antipsychotic drugs, etc.) * Alcoholism and drug abuse. * Hormonal imbalance (low levels of estrogen, low levels of testosterone, etc.) * Menopause * Childbirth and breast-feeding * Obesity or Anorexia * Depression * Stress * Anxiety * Fatigue * Pain or discomfort during sex (dyspareunia) * Inability to achieve orgasm (anorgasmia) * Hang-ups from childhood * Poor body image and low self-esteem * Past sexual abuse * Past or current physical or emotional abuse * Serious relationship problems
