What makes these materials attractive to major mattress manufacturers is their price: They’re much less expensive than natural materials such as latex, wool, and organic cotton used in chemical-free mattresses. Unlike the natural fibers, however, polyester and polyurethane don’t breathe, creating a potentially toxic micro-climate beneath your sheets.
