My friend loaned me hers to test out. I've used it for three days now and wanted to give my take on this. I too heart my Chi and feel like no other flat iron seems to compare. However, I think the Chi and the InStyler should be considered on two different levels. The Chi will get me the sleek, streamlined straight look or will give me teh choppy waves (if you have ever curled your hair with a Chi, that is what I'm referring to). The Instyler gives big, bouncy smooth waves with a curl on the end. I can't imagine actually getting my hair STRAIGHT with this item - but frankly I don't think it's designed for that purpose. I'm caucasian with VERY thick and curly hair (think curls like what you would get with a one-inch currling iron), jsut past my shoulders, layered. The way I used the Instyler made all the difference in my opinion. After I washed and conditioned, I blew my hair out until it was COMPLETELY dry (very important) - I did not however use a brush, just finger dried it and pulled on my locks. Then, using the Instyler over one inch sections, I took one or two passes and each piece. From wash to wear, this entire thing took me about 45 minutes. I'm pleased with the product and will be buying my own ASAP. It gives a very polished and professional look to my hair with plenty of body and bounce. Here are my cautions. It's much, much hotter that my Chi on highest setting. I think the reason it doesn't burn the hair is truly because you are not pressing the hair together. I use a heat safe glove (from a beauty supply) on my non-dominant hand and haven't burned myself since I tried that. I don't think you could go from completely curly right to straight with this thing the way you can with a Chi. AND finally, if you get hair caught in the rotation area, it can catch, burna nd break the fine hairs along the hairline. Overall, I really like the Instyler and I would recommend it to others.

looks like the same crap website that I used.

I paid through paypal and disputing through them also so I'll update to let you know what happend. Thank you!

Found that out the hard way, i was going to comment earlier telling people not to get it from there. I am currently waiting to try and send it back since it broke!

it's online at Ladle Out for $48.90 with free shipping. I have not received it yet but I just wanted to let everybody know.

they sell these for $59.99 on www.DirectTechStore.com

Read plenty of reviews and have to say it's hard to know who's saying what. I then went to site and found a bunch of InStyler reviews videos from different sources. I think this site is probably worth taking a look at if you're in the market. When I watch the videos with the pros, I realize, yes, these are PROFESSIONAL stylists using the product. But then there are some videos with just everyday girls like me. One even kind of looks like me. Pretty convincing.

I just received the 2'fer deal for my 15 year old daughter and I. The Instylers heated up quick! (we got the rapid heat, non switchable) I like to think I am pretty experienced with styling hair having graduated from beauty college... while the insyler's concept is great and it dose work, I think it's poorly designed for in home use. Almost all of us use both hands to turn a hair tool to curl it, the instyler will burn you if you try to do that. It needs a protective, heat resistant shield on the barrel side. Other than that issue it's a great item and I hope it lasts a long time for as much as we paid for them.

I FOUND IT IN STORES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I read all the above pros and cons and I couldn't wait to get you my response. It's in the "As Seen on TV Stores for 89.99. They allow you to return it within 14 days however, you get an "in store" credit. I used mine today - July 3. I'm a woman of color with between thick and thin hair. I don't have a perm. The last time my ends were cut were about a month ago. I enjoyed using it but would recommend the following for African American Women - Wash/Condition your hair with Mane and Tail. You'll see growth in about 3 months. Brush your hair back into a ponytail and pin up the end for one hour or more. Pinning up the hair allows the ends to stay together and controls splitting. Blow dry hair and then use the instyler. TAKE YOUR TIME. USE IT SLOW. I saw the silkyness. It straightens giving a SOFT and LOOSE curl. I would also recommend putting a roller in after each curl just to give a tighter curl while the warmth is still on the hair. I didn't use the instyler while my hair was wet to avoid "the frizz" later. If I decide to use it I will let you know the results. AND YES IT'S VERY HOT - BUT ALL IRONS ARE, RIGHT? I was worried about it burning my hair, but it didn't and I didn't have to keep going over the curl. Slow, remember? I hope this helps! By the way, I found it at the store in Merrillville, Indiana Mall. They also have it at the Orland Square Mall in Orland Park, Illinois. Try your local "As Seen On TV " Stores in your area. Good Luck!

Does anyone know if this is sold in any stores?I've heard too many horror story's about the customer service from products sold on TV.

I received the 2 InStylers for the price of 1 and have been completely disappointed in this product. My curly thick hair turned out to be very frizzy and terrible looking. I even tried it on my daughter's thin straight hair and hers became frizzy as well. I give this product 2 thumbs down and I do not recommend it to anyone!! The videos on this product are completely untruthful as well your hair is very hot to the touch after using it and it makes a nasty smell while using it. I also had to go over each section of hair about five times just to get a frizzy result! Bottom line keep your money in your pocket and put it to better use than on the InStyler!

I LOVE MY INSTYLER!!! I don't know why some ppl say they hate it, and by what they say it sounds like they didn't read the instructions or didn't take time to learn it, it took me a few hours to learn, now i can do almost anything with it and I love it!!! The only thing I get is why does it say you spend less time gettin ready? It's true in the mornings, it doesn't take me as long to gussy up and take my older daughter to school, but at night time I spend 2-3 hours in the bathroom playin around with it cuz it's soooo much fun to do different styles!!! I absolutely love it and wish someone thought of it about 7 years ago when i was 14 and had trouble with styling my hair!!! LOL

great.maybe i think i can suppose!

hi,everybody, i can supply InStyler Rotating Hot Iron Hair Straightener. if you need, send email to me: kobebusiness@gmail.com. then i can send more info to you.thanks

Hi, everyone I know of a product that will work in all hair types and is safe for children and healthy for your hair. I have virgin hair and its thin frizzy thick curly hair, so I am very carful to put product in my hair since it's thin and it damages quickly. I did a lot research and came across a relatively new treatment called Brazilian keratin with collagen. This is amazing it leaves it extremely shinny and takes the frizz out. It dries very quickly. I used to loose a lot of hair when brushing or washing my hair and it no longer happens at all. Your hair will be 100 % straighter but not flat if you have curly hair. I like to think that it's what your hair should look like if it wasn't frizzy. It’s the most vitamins that you can ever give to the hair. I was scare as I wasn't sure what to expect, but it's the BEST thing ever almost maintained free. U wash it and brush it and out you go, you do have to use a anti-free oil but just a small amount and it smells great but that is all. This treatment has to be done twice a year, each time better than the last. It is an expensive treatment but you don't have to flat iron it and you no longer have to buy products, you only use the products that go with the treatment which should last if you don't abuse them. The other thing I do recommend to find someone that really knows what they are doing and uses the Best Quality Keratin as this would make a huge different on your results. Someone with lots of practice that has before and after photos from their customers, other than that go for it. It works miracles. BREATHE and spend the money. Most of us spend money in a year that does nothing to improve our life and take the stress out, like a $3-4 DOLLAR COFFEE, drink or cloth that end up in our closet. Love your self and get the Brazilian Keratin treatment. Youtube it and see what it does for people. Find a professional and you will not be disappointed. Once more it works on all types of hair. Maximum protein that you can get for your hair from any products since it al most all natural ingredients. You end up with a healthy fast growing hair. Research learn about it and how it is done and Ask questions to your stylist to see if it makes sense with your research FIVE STARS FIVE DIAMOND.

Hi everyone, I have my New Instylers I'm selling. I have a ad on craigslist >> http://hudsonvalley.craigslist.org:80/clo/1168606954.html ksinclairstewart@earthlink.net Thank you! keima

Hello to all. If anyone has an extra in styler they would want to sell reasonable, please let me know. Thanks, Linda E-Mail= ApplejacknSpice@aol.com

I absolutely LOVE my instyler! I read these reviews while I was waiting for it to be shipped and was a little nervous, but it works great for my hair. I have thick curly/wavy hair. Usually I have to blow it dry with a round brush, straighten it and then use a curling iron to round off the ends. The instyler straightened it but with body. It isn't that awkward to use. The only thing I would change is that there should be something you can hold onto at the end for when you are doing the back of your hair.Maybe this doesn't work on thin hair? But I love mine. I just packed up the straightening and curling irons.I bought mine on ebay for $60 + shipping, totally worth it!

This product is horrible!! I ordered the instyler because I have very thin, frizzy, curly hair. So with hopes of it actually working like they advertise I ordered the product. I didn't receive it until about 2-3weeks after ordering it. When I received it I tried it, hated it! The product has no ceramic material at all it it made my hair look very dry and frizzy! I felt like it was damaging my hair even more. I put the item back into the same box it came in. I called that same week upon receiving it and spoke with a sales rep and told him that I was going to be returning the product and what procedures did I need to follow in order to receive my full %$150.00 back. He responded by giving me the company address. I then asked him if that was all I needed and if I was going to have any issues getting my money back? His response was no, as long as it's within the 30 days trial period you shouldn't have any problem. I returned the item in that same week. I then called about a week or so after shipping it back to see if they had received it and if they had credited my account for the amount of the product. The sales rep said we received it and we rejected the return. I said what why? He says well you didn't follow the proper return procedures. Excuse me I do remember calling and asking specifically on return procedures. Well apparently you have to get a CRA number which is a return number from the company. I asked to speak to a supervisior the guy then hung up on me. So I called back waited on HOLD again. When I finally got a supervisor on the phone he was very rude. Talking over me as I was talking. Arguing with me. I told him that I had called previously before shipping the items back and that his sales rep did not make me aware of this "much important policy" that they have. His response was that it's not their employees responsiblity to make their customers aware of the policy....what kind of buisness is this??? We continued to argue about it. I told him I did not like the product I returned it in the 30days and I wanted my money back. I shipped it back in the same box it was returned it! Everything they shipped me they received back but because of this so important policy that their employees are obviously not allow to talk about I'm not getting my money back. Well, the supervisor continued to argue with me stating "this is our policy and we are NOT going to make an exception for you" First of all I wasn't asking for an exception! My argument was the fact that I CALLED prior to returing the item and was not told the proper procedures I needed to follow! He kept being rude so I asked to speak to a manager. He then LIED to me and said that they did not have managers. I told him I was not stupid and the company has a manager. He says, well I can transfer you to a voicemail but that's all I can do. So he sends to me this automated voicemail. I left a message which I have never receive a response. This item is now being shipped back to me and I now have until April 30th to get it back and Ship it again (out of my pocket)!! Well, I got the tracking number and called Fedex the package isn't even due to arrive at my house until..guess what...April 30th! How convient for them! I feel that if this company is so dead set and strong on their important policy of theirs then they need to make their customers more aware of it esp. when someone calls and specifically ASKS the questions "what do I need to do to return this item" I give this product and company a 0 out of 10!! This entire thing is a HUGE scam! The product does NOT work! It will damage your hair even more! The company is so unorganized and dishonest and they will do anything they can to try and keep your money! They have hidden policies that they make unaware to the customer and then will reject your item upon returning and tell you it YOUR fault for not following the procedure! How are you suppose to follow something you know nothing about??? Do NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!! It is a huge scam! I'm not just saying this because of the way I was treated. I planned on leaving a review before this incident just about the product. But I believe that people need to know about the type of business and people you are dealing with through this company! I honestly believe because this company is so twisted that they probably have someone leaving positive comments on this site for people to read!! IT's A SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to say I got this iron 3 months ago and it does do what it says it does. BUT, however the product is very poorly made. Mine lasted 3 months and just stopped working one day. I purchased another one brand new and I received it the other day and when you use it it makes a awful loud noise so, I don't think this one is going to last long either. It does do the job but for the money it's not worth it when your going through them every couple of months.

I literally just used it 20 minutes ago and I came straight to google to let people know about this product. I like many of you saw this product on tv and thought wow but being the skeptic that I am, I didn't buy it. All i can say is, I'm glad I trusted my instincts. This thing is not that great. One thing it does do that I saw was make your hair very soft. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND FIND SOMETHING BETTER

I'd like to buy one at a reduced price. Please contact me at mcabrera@butlerrubin.com if you're selling one.

Want to buy new or used Instyler, contact me at yvonne_k21@yahoo if selling one

It's hard to know who to believe. We all have different opionions. I have thick, slightly curly hair and the Instyler makes it look like Halle Barry hair, I swear. It's so smooth and pretty. You can always buy it on Ebay for cheaper, but I would definitely buy it if your hair is ethnic or curly. It's amazing.

Alright, I've read all these comments. Some are saying the InStyler is great, and some are saying they hate it. So, who do I believe? I don't understand...I mean i need the facts on the product because the opinions I'm reading are just so different, I can't decide. I have very curly, very thick hair. It's ridiculous and I love having it straight. However, I hate to straighten it because it takes 45 minutes to an hour. Someone please tell me, will the InStyler work for my hair and straighten it better and faster than my ceramic straightener? I NEED ANSWERS!

Hi, I have an InStyler for sale if anyone would like to buy it.Please contact me if interested :) lydiaherzog@gmail.com

okay i have never had the instyler but was wondering if i could buy one in stores???????

This has been the best thing I've ever bought for my hair. My hair continues to be shiny and soft. Thank you, thank you Instyler!!

I totally love mine!!

Rip OFF , for stupid and dangerous design. I ordered on TV, they take %20 restocking fee if you for any reason you want to return. The rolling iron rolls just one direction ,good luck using it for both sides of your head. Iron is so hot with no protecting cover that basically burns my ear each time I tried.

I would like to buy a used INSTYLER. jrucker1969@msn.com.

i would like to buy someone's extra instyler so that i can try it out for myself. however, i live in canada. if anyone can sell and ship me one, please contact me at toshadensky@hotmail.com

i can't figure out how to contact ppl on here! I want to buy a instyler!

i have 2 instylers...used once to test..hated it.please contact me if you want to buy

I have used this item on my neice & daughter who is afro american with long curly hair that hangs to the middle of their back when straighten. this tool has given them straighter hair & body. The flat iron never gave them body & it seem to leave the hair limpless. I highly recommend it. If you are use to your hairdresser doing your hair, then it will be hard for you to start out using this tool, it takes time to get use to.

Don't buy this product. It's cheaply made and dealing with the company to return this piece of junk was a nightmare! What a scam!

I just got my two instylers today and I love it! I have coarse frizzy hair and it straightened and then flipped out my ends. I read so many reviews saying this and that so I got a lot of good pointers on how to use it before i got it. I usually have to use a flat iron and then a curler to get this much body, but the Instyler did it in one shot. I highly recommend!

1/6/09 Hello, This is not worth the money. DO NOT BUY IT. I had purchased 2 InStylers. In Nov 08. I am Africam Amer with long naturally curly hair. No perms. If I want my hair straight, my hairdresser will blow dry it straight with a round barreI brush and then flat iron it . It comes out gorgeous, with a beautiful sheen and alot of body. I was hoping I could repeat that with the InStyler. I was excited about the InStylers infomercial, I thought this would save me time and money. But It DOES NOT. I am oh so disappointed. They are cheaply made. They are noisy. One of my InStylers kepy cutting off as I was trying to use it. It took my 2 hours to straighten my hair. I used a light oil but my hair still came out dry, brittle and with fly aways. yes it made it straight but the brush split my ends. Yes, it gave my some body but you ever seen someone with dry, brittle hair with split ends with a lot of body. yuk. The next time I used used my ceramic flat iron on my hair and it straighten my hair and did a better job them the InStyler. And now they won't give me my money back saying my first 30 days has passed. Not even for the one that keeps cutting off on me. what kind of customer service is this? I don't have $200 to give away. So Now I will be spending more time and money fighting a curling iron company that sold me a defective product and is causing me split ends. If you like healthy hair, stay away from this product.

Um....Anyone know how it works on teenagers hair?? I saw the infomercial and was like oh my gosh that's amazing, but now reading all these comments I'm unsure. So what I'm really asking is how does it work with wavey, long hair, that has already alot of volume? I want to straighten my hair with it and if anyone says this product is not what I am looking for what would you recommend?

This product gets wonderful reviews, if you type in instyler in YouTube you will see many girls that give live demonstrations on just how easy it is to use. These are real customers and not the company promoting the product so that was what made me decide to order but I didn't order from their website. They had a buy one get one free offer so a lot of people were selling the second instyler for less...instyler best price

I am also interested in buying a used instyler. Thanks.

For those who aren't satisfied with the Instyler, I am interested in buying a used Instyler. Please contact me at maggie.ogren@yahoo.com Thanks!

For those who aren't satisfied with the Instyler, I am interested in buying a used Instyler. Please contact me at maggie.ogren@yahoo.com Thanks!

I am a African American woman who has hair past my shoulders and I tried the instyler yesterday with a fresh perm. Overall it did make my hair soft, but the infomercial did exaggerate a bit. On a scale of 1 to10, 10 being the highest, I give the instyler a 7. It was hard to get close to the roots- so I did go and grab my CHI so I wouldn’t burn myself (which only happened once). It didn’t make my hair smell either. I would say that if you are someone that use oil, do make sure that you put some on after you have used the tool. I don’t use oil on my hair before I put heat to it anyway so I couldn't say which is better to do. I wouldn’t use the instyler on my hair all the time because of the brush bristles may make your hair split ends. I wouldn’t say that I love the Instyler- but I do like it. It did add body to my hair. I also asked my sister which tool made my hair look better, the Chi or the Instlyer- she did say that the CHI. she couldn't give me a good explanation why she just said the CHI made it look prettier. yet the Instyler did make it look pretty too. I would also say that its not worth 75.00 a piece. If you have the Instyler with the heat settings- you must let it heat up for about 5 minutes (set on high). I also had to go back over a couple of spots- not sure if it was because I was so excited to use it that I didn’t let the tool get to its max heat. It also takes some practice, because most of us are use to using a tool that requires both hands. Just know that I will not get rid of my CHI as well!

I'm just curious if anyone has used it on fine, straight hair? Someone said it would be good for body, but I don't want to burn my hair either (or make it any straighter than it already is)!

I'd like to know if it will work on the roots of your hair or just burn your scalp trying?

Do not leave it where children can get to ir!!!! It doesn't have any protection at all. I was expecting to make easier my styling time but... 1. I used it twice and burned my face, ears, neck, hands and hip (got close to the vanity where it was placed it). I will try a few times more after I get over these traumatic experiences... 2. It might work better for long hair, mine is mediun lengh. 3. It doesn't hold the hair tight enough to make it smooth as shown in TV. If you don't turn at the right place your hair will be just flat. I have a mix of natural tight curl and wavy thick hair. 4. The hair has to be dry.

I do not have a button to switch directions. Is that button only on the standard model? I bought the rapid heat up but I would rather have the ability to change the direction of the barrell.

LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT! I purchased it months ago and did not read directions or look at the informercial again, just handled the tool like it was a flat iron and burnt my hand, threw it back in the box and decided today to look at the informercial carefully, take it out and use it again CORRECTLY....well needless to say I have gorgeous bouncing behaving hair...can you say Michelle Obama hair..yes I'm african american and with this product have achieved awesome shiny silky hair...I'm not mad at the price because it's what the cost of 2 hairstyles would cost me at a high end salon! I can now create the look myself! LOVE IT! Highly recommend it, just use it as described.

I just purchased the instyler and mine does NOT have the option to switch the way the bar rotates. This is very anoying , it takes me like 25 minutes to use because of that, my hair generally turns out okay. I still dont think they are worth 80 bucks a piece!

Well I just bought it yesterday. I've seen mixed reviews and decided I wanted to make my own decision. I'm African American with permed hair. My hair just barely brushes my shoulders (so its not very long) and I'm interested to see how the instyler will work for me. A lot of people on other forums have complained about getting scammed by the Instyler ppl (getting charged payments at inexpected times) but I bought mine straight out and even with a 3 year warranty (around $10) and priority processing (around $6) I still only paid $75 a piece for the first instyler and the free one. I hope I get mine soon...will keep everyone updated!

Marcisweet, there's a button right on the front that you can push to change the direction of the rotation - it's down at the bottom, kind of a long button with two ends with arrows. I just use one direction becuz I just switch the way I hold it in my hands - kind of got used to it that way. I still luv mine!!!

Curious about how it works with course African American natural hair (i.e. totally permless). Anybody know how it performs with natural hair?

I am wondering if anyone knows how to change the direction of the barrell. The first time I used it, it was going one direction, now it has reversed. I can't do my hair because it is backwards and I can't hold my hands right. Thx.

I bought this product from www.shoptvcanada.com and the product is amazing. Totally worth the $$$

Is it worth $150? Is it made out of sturdy material? How can a barrel that burns skin, not burn hair?

INstyler hater, why did you hate it? I'm curious. Everyone I know that has one loves it. You don't say what you hate about it but you say you hate the company. I've had mine for a couple of months and I can't live without it. I put my Chi in the drawer and haven't seen it since I got my Instyler. It's a thousand times better than my Chi.

Not as good as they potray it on television!! Returning it is a whole new problem. Keep you on hold forever and ever.Don't get it unless you are completely sure!!!!!!!

Have any cosmotologist's used this. im kinda interested but i LOVE my Chi???//?//

Hey!!! I just bought an Instyler and wanted to see if anyone else had used it and found this thread. I read curly-i's comments too and all I have to say is omg... did she not read the directions??????? I have thick and slightly curly hair (I"m half African-American) and this hair iron works wonders on my hair. It is the most amazing thing I"ve tried, and I"ve spent tons of money on flat irons and relaxers in my life. Curly, girl, read the directions and try it again because it is a FANTASTIC hair iron. I love it!!!!!!!!! Love to you curly but you sound like you need to get it together - this is a great, fabulous, incredible hair iron!!!!!!!!! Not a rip off!!!!!!!

I just want to comment on curly_i's comments - i, too, burned my fingers when I first used it because it's made differently than other hair tools. You have to learn how not to touch the barrel when it rotates (which means you are doing your hair with one hand basically). You can't grab it like you would a flat iron. And I got it right up against my scalp and it was fine. LIke any other heated iron, you just have to be smart enough not to put it against your skin - forehead, ears, scalp, etc. - and you can switch directions of the rotation so it goes either way. Did you read the instructions before you used it? It's different from other irons so you can't just jump into it and expect it to work like a flat iron. It doesn't work that way. My mom and I continue to use it and love it and it straightens my kinky hair beautifully. I even got a new haircut with layers because the Instyler makes my hair so straight. This product is NOT a rip off at all - you need to learn how to use it first and then it works fabulously. Sorry to disagree with you, but I can tell just by reading your comments that you didn't learn how to work it before trying it. It's an amazing product.

I just received my InStyler and I think it's a P-O-S!!! Don't waste your money on this product! It wasn't even worth the $14.99 trial!!! I have thick, curly hair (NOT CORSE) and it didn't even grab a hold of my hair like it should have. You can't even get close enough to get to the roots because it will sear the skin off your scalp, ears, forehead... anything it touches!!! It rotates in one direction only, which was against the flow of straightening... It's cheaply made and COSTS A FORTUNE!!! DON'T DO IT... TRUST ME I STRUGGLE WITH WANTING TO STRAIGHTEN MY HAIR ALL THE TIME AND THIS PRODUCT IS DEFINITELLY NOT THE ONE TO DO IT!!! And the less than 10 minute claim... RIDICULOUS!!!

Mine has three temperatures and the highest setting gets really high. I havent' noticed any damage to my hair at all, not like my flat iron can do. That one can fry my hair.

does anyone know how hot this iron gets??? temp???

Yeah, you do have to practice. That's what I figured out after touching the barrel and burning my finger, but it really does a nice job on my hair. Now my friends want to steal it! ;P

I looovvvee it! Great for my impossible hair. Took me a little practice, but results are worth it.

My mom and I tried it and we loved it. It takes a few minutes to get the hang of it because it's different from other tools (the barrel rotates and that kind of throws you off!), but once you get the hang of it and don't touch the barrel, it really works well. I keep it in my bathroom and hide it from my mom because I don't want her to hide it from me. She said it was about $150 so I know it costs a lot but it works so well and I hope it will last a few years. We really liked it!

Anyone actually USED this and how was it? Worth the $$?? Thanks
