Is there something you need to know about this product that we've omitted? Send us an anonymous question and we promise to answer it within 1 business day. The answer will be displayed below. A few customer questions we've answered Q: If you have a "dead" battery how are you supposed to charge the "charger" to jump your car, without a "good" samaritan? A: When you first receive the SelfCharge Auto Jumper, charge its battery in your home. Then, transfer it to your car and keep it there in the event your car battery dies. If you were to use the SelfCharge Auto Jumper to recharge a cell phone, for instance, you could recharge your SelfCharge Auto Jumper using the cigarette lighter socket in your car while your car is running. It's a very versatile product. A: The SelfCharge Auto Jumper will hold its charge for 3 to 6 months. The charge will gradually decrease over time, but every few months you can plug it in to recharge so that it is always ready should you need it. Q: What's the maximum amount of time it takes to charge the unit plugged into the cigarette lighter adapter? A: It would take 30-60 minutes to charge the SelfCharge Auto Jumper through a cigarette lighter. This should only be attempted while the car is actually on, as you don't want to drain the battery unnecessarily. A: While the manufacturer states that the SelfCharge Auto Jumper can charge a dead battery, we suspect that there's a "degree of deadness" at which this charger will no longer be able to restart your car (where regular jumper cables may still be able to do the trick). The beauty of the SelfCharge Auto Jumper lies in the fact that it will work in most situations, it doesn't require outside assistance, and it can also charge your cell phone and other small devices. Q: Hello, did you say it takes 30 to 60 minutes for the battery to charge? Thank you Merci ! lauryv@3web.net A: It takes 30 to 60 minutes to initially charge the battery in the SelfCharge Auto Jumper. When it is fully charged, it should only take approximately 10 minutes for it to jump your car's battery. A: The SelfCharge Auto Jumper will also work with hybrid cars as long as it is plugged into a cigarette lighter with at least 12 volts. Q: is this only for US Cars or will it work in cars in Europe? Thanks! A: As long as your car has a 12 volt outlet, the SelfCharge Auto Jumper will work no matter where the car was made. A: If your car turns off your power ports and cigarette lighter when the car is off, there is not a way for the SelfCharge Auto Jumper to bypass that, so it would not work in your car. If your car functions like this, we recommend that you purchase a Power Dome EX, which can also jumpstart a dead battery. Q: I would like to know if this product is good to use on just cars or would it work on big trucks with bigger engines? Also, what if the temperature is really cold outside. Will the charger hold? A: The SelfCharge Auto Jumper was made specifically for cars and SUVs. It is not meant to be used for larger trucks. Cold temperatures will not have an effect on the charger. A: According to the manufacturer, the SelfCharge Auto Jumper will work if the power ports are on when the key is in the accessory position. Q: After it is fully charged how many weeks or months can elapse for the battery to be useable to charge a car battery A: The charge will deplete over time, which is why it is suggested to top-off / re-charge the SelfCharge Auto Jumper every several months. A: According to the manufacturer, the SelfCharge Auto Jumper can be used up to 200 times. Q: do it really work? A: Yes. The SelfCharge Auto Jumper is basically a large rechargeable battery. As long as it has a charge, plugging it into your cigarette lighter will transfer that charge to your car's battery. A: The SelfCharge Auto Jumper is designed to work with both cars, SUVS, and station wagons. Q: How much does it weigh? Regards A: The SelfCharge Auto Jumper weighs about 2 pounds. A: Yes, it really works. Your cigarette lighter can do both. Q: What is the amp load of the starter unit? Is there a way to know when
