If anyone can get e-readers right, it's Amazon. From all I've heard, this thing is either a revelation or a dud. I'm waiting for version two before parting with any cash.

This is pretty damn cool! This is doing for the book industry what the ipod did for the music industry!! No more big, clunky books!!! I've read the reviews and I must say this looks like it would be well worth the dough! :]

that's pretty freakin' sweet...good to know! You , lavabunny, have re-perked my interest :)

The Kindle can be hacked so that you can check your email(especially if you have gmail), IM, listen to music, subscribe to RSS feeds for free instead of paying for newspaper and mag subscriptions, and for supposedly for GPS, although I've never known anyone to get that one to work.

nice table :) thx for breaking that down. I did think that maybe if you traveled a lot, and had lots of extra cash laying around, it would be an easier way to have a selection to choose from in lieu of having to tote several possibly bulky books around. Basically, this is going to make books obsolete the way MP3s are making record collections obsolete - if you love them you will keep them and continue to build your collection.

I agree--I think that this is a terrible idea.

It makes me sad that they are trying to make the book obsolete.

i'm impressed, after watching the demo video...i'll be suprised if it doesn't catch on more once price goes down...
