Synsepalum dulcificum "Miracle Fruit" We've been experimenting with "Miracle Fruit" for a number of years and finally we're able to offer it so others may enjoy it too. The miracle is in the berry. Once you've eaten the small red fruit (about the size of a gumdrop), everything sour eaten afterwards tastes incredibly sweet, including sour citrus. From tropical West Africa, it flowers profusely with fruit setting usually during the summer months in northern climates. Slow growth is normal and for successful growth it must be planted in an acidic soil-mixture of half sphagnum peat moss and half perlite. This plant remains modest in size. Hardy Zone 10 and higher for outdoors. Full sun, grows to 2-3' in container, minimum temperature 60°, intermittent bloomer.
