The term 'magazine style' is a fad term for the style of digital layout used . Magazine style wedding albums are also known by professional wedding photographers and brides as the magazine style coffee table wedding album, digital coffee table albums and digital montage albums or storybook wedding album. So far we have only mentioned photo albums. Confusion arises when digital photo books are referred to as magazine style wedding photo books, digital coffee table book or wedding photo books, montage style coffee table book, art book, book style wedding album, wedding storybook album and so on . All of these terms essentially refer to the flush mount photo album or a photo book. Although these wedding photo albums all fall under the general category of 'digital albums' they can and sometimes do differ in style and quality and layout. The magazine style wedding album is what is known as the 'flush mount photo album' and is constructed of a hard bound cover and rigid pages consisting of photo prints dry mounted on card. The flush mount album doesn't have matted pages such as those found in a traditional wedding album and can almost be described as a cross between an photo album and a coffee table book. A true coffee table book may consist of pages designed in the 'magazine style' However the coffee table wedding album differs from flush mount albums as it's pages are thinner and resemble those found in conventional coffee table book, rather than a photo album. Sometimes when applied to wedding albums, the terms album and book are mistakenly interchanged. Often completely different terms such as digital montage wedding album or storybook wedding albums are applied as wedding professionals (particularly between the U.S.A., the UK and Australia) may apply different marketing terms to photo albums. Front covers of digital photo albums may differ, In the case of the (flush mount) photo album the covers are mostly hard bound in leather, leatherette or vinyl. In the case of the coffee table photo books pages may have a wrap around photo and may be hard cover or soft cover. Flush mounted magazine style wedding albums often feature metallic inserts. Sometimes acrylic or metallic printed or wrap around photo front panels may be used. Some of these metal panels are laser etched others are embossed. These panels can be inset or inlayed into leather or leatherette hard covers. The covers of flush mount digital albums always consist of hard bound book covers whilst the pages containing the layouts are flush mounted photographic prints (preferably) or in some cases inkjet prints. The pages in flush mount magazine style wedding albums are mounted edge to edge . True coffee table wedding albums on the other hand, are a type of digital photo book and printed using 'digital offset' to produce a true book like appearance. Magazine style refers to the style of layout that is characteristic of these photo albums and photo books. This is the similarity between the photo albums and photo books whilst the manufacturing process is the difference. The layout that is designed for these albums and photo books is usually a known as a digital montage, hence the term montage style wedding album is also another term used. The term style needs to be applied loosely as custom magazine style albums and photobooks may differ immensely in layout style from each other depending on their designer. All of these digital photo albums comprise of layouts designed using custom or template computer generated image composites. Also referred to as storybook albums because they narrate a story, particularly when used as wedding albums, the page designs of magazine style digital albums are said to have been inspired by fashion magazines. Whilst to some extent this is true, fashion magazines are quite different to most magazine style wedding albums and coffee table wedding albums on display in most photo studios. When See less »
