This beautiful version is made in Thailand of sustainable rubberwood and will look lovely on display in any home. Ancient versions of the game have been found in both the Arab and the African world, and to this day, different versions are played all over Africa using all different types of containers and materials. To play Kalaha, players place three stones in each of the 12 holes. Each player has their own storage section on the right side of the board. To begin the game, one player picks up all the stones from one of the holes on his or her side. Moving counter-clockwise the player deposits one of the stones in each hole until the stones run out. - If you run into your own storage section, deposit one piece in it, but if you run into your opponent's storage, skip it. - If the last piece you drop is in your own storage section, you get a free turn. - If the last piece you drop is in an empty hole on your side, you capture that piece and any pieces in the hole directly opposite. - Place all captured pieces in your storage section. The game ends when all six spaces on one side of the Kalaha board are empty. The player who still has pieces on his or her side of the board when the game ends captures all of those pieces. The person with the most pieces in storage, wins the game. A game of strategic planning, the goal is to see several moves ahead and outmaneuver your opponent.See less »
